Title: The World Series Post by: mecadonzilla on October 24, 2010, 01:41:17 am The World Series is set to begin on Wednesday. Who's it going to be? The torturous Giants or the inexperienced Rangers?
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: raptorsfan29 on October 24, 2010, 01:45:42 am I'll go with the Rangers getting their first World Series.
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: mecadonzilla on October 24, 2010, 02:32:04 am After watching the Rangers completely embarrass the Yankees, it's kind of hard to pick against them.
The Giants just took down the undisputed kings of the National League and have home field advantage to boot, so it's tough to go against them. This is a tough series to pick. This should be fun! Title: Re: The World Series Post by: TonyB0D on October 24, 2010, 04:58:38 pm i hope its the giants, but the rangers are an offensive juggernaut rite now and they're going to absolutely steamroll the giants
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: BigDaddyFin on October 24, 2010, 05:19:51 pm I'll say the GIants. Better pitching always seems to make the biggest difference in the world series.
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: bsmooth on October 24, 2010, 09:35:16 pm I do not think the Giants pitching is that much better than the way the Rangers staff is pitching right now.
Rangers do however seem to have a more potent offensive. I am for the Rangers, as I cannot stand anything bay area. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: MaineDolFan on October 25, 2010, 09:55:11 am The Rangers are clicking in every way possible:
Hitting. Hitting for average Hitting for power Speed Defense Pitching Bullpen Closer ...that said, I also picked the Twins and Phillies to meet in the World Series. So do not listen to a thing that I say. I would like to ask one question: WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT SONG THEY PLAYED IN THE STADIUM AFTER TEXAS WON??!?!? I mean, Jesus H. Hick in a truck with a gun rack. Why not just play sound efx of mooing cows??? Embarrassing. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: mecadonzilla on October 25, 2010, 10:48:28 pm The Rangers, and all the Texas pro teams (except those in the NBA), really like to play up the whole "we're in Texas so we gotta play us some country music" angle. It's an irritant to me and most Texans.
The Rangers are probably the worst of the lot in my experience. They play country music whenever possible. Hell, the 7th inning stretch song is "The Cotton Eyed Joe." (Just google that crap and listen to that every night to know true horror.) I don't really know why they do this. Country music doesn't get anyone ready to cheer, it doesn't pump anybody up, and it makes a lot of fans just tune out as much of the game presentation as possible. I was at the game on Friday night, but I couldn't hear the song after the last out. I could only just make out the rustic twang and knew it wasn't worth hearing. That crowd went ape shit after A-Roid struck out and didn't hardly stop yelling for 45 minutes. It was one of loudest games I've ever witnessed first hand. I've never seen an atmosphere like that outside of a college football game. It was good to see the Ranger fans represent. I'll be going to game 5 of the World Series, too, so I'm really hoping to see the Rangers take it in 5. I don't normally pay much attention to the Rangers, but for some reason, I was really bored this summer so I watched a ton of their games. I'm glad to see them succeed finally. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Brian Fein on October 26, 2010, 11:37:28 am Phillies and Yankees fans are bitter, saying this will be a horrible World Series. I think it will actually be quite exciting.
I do expect the Giants to run away with it though, because I think the Rangers' lack of supporting pitching behind Cliff Lee will haunt them. I like CJ Wilson, but he's not unhittable. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Philly Fin Fan on October 26, 2010, 11:49:51 am Phillies and Yankees fans are bitter, saying this will be a horrible World Series. I think it will actually be quite exciting. Don't lump us all together. I don't think its going to be "horrible". I think the Rangers are a more complete team and will win it though. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: CF DolFan on October 26, 2010, 11:58:59 am I think most people who are actually baseball fans are looking forward to this series. It should be a good one as both teams were earlly odds to be eliminated.
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: MaineDolFan on October 26, 2010, 12:01:50 pm I'm looking forward to it. Power versus power, baby.
San Fran wins it in 6. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Brian Fein on October 26, 2010, 12:23:58 pm Don't lump us all together. I don't think its going to be "horrible". Come on man, my Facebook page and Twitter feed was chock full of "welcome to the lowest rated world series in history" type sour-grapes comments the days following the Yankees and Phillies losses...Title: Re: The World Series Post by: StL FinFan on October 26, 2010, 12:28:41 pm I think Bengie Molina will get a new ring. ; )
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Philly Fin Fan on October 26, 2010, 12:59:36 pm I think Bengie Molina will get a new ring. ; ) Bengie gets one regardless of who wins! Title: Re: The World Series Post by: StL FinFan on October 26, 2010, 01:00:40 pm Bengie gets one regardless of who wins! Exactly. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Philly Fin Fan on October 26, 2010, 01:01:52 pm Come on man, my Facebook page and Twitter feed was chock full of "welcome to the lowest rated world series in history" type sour-grapes comments the days following the Yankees and Phillies losses... Again, don't lump everyone together. When you come on this board and say that, everyone thinks of the Yankees and Phillies fans on this site. To the best of my knowledge, I'm the only Phillies fan on this site (lots of Yankees fans), and i don't feel that way. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: StL FinFan on October 26, 2010, 02:23:05 pm I hear Yankees fans say that kind of thing whenever the Yankees are not in the WS. I have not heard a Philly fan say anything of the kind.
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Brian Fein on October 26, 2010, 02:24:59 pm Truth be told I only heard one Phillies fan say that, and no, it wasn't you. I'm not lumping people (purposely) but just commenting on what appears to be the general consensus.
Perhaps its because of my lack of Giants/Rangers fans as Facebook friends.... Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Sunstroke on October 26, 2010, 02:45:23 pm As much as I'd love to go with the Senior Circuit in this Series, my gut says "Rangers," and I see them winning it in only 5 games. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: bsfins on October 26, 2010, 03:58:28 pm I agree with Stroke there....I admit, I'm actually happy to see world series with teams that aren't there often....Or in the Rangers case never been there....For me I might actually watch some of the games...If it would have Phillies vs Yanks, I'd skipped it all together....
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: MaineDolFan on November 02, 2010, 09:08:08 am I'm looking forward to it. Power versus power, baby. San Fran wins it in 6. I was off by a game. But I'll say it one more time: Pitching and defense. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Sunstroke on November 02, 2010, 09:19:24 am Happy to see the Giants win...and glad to see Cody Ross play so well for them this postseason. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 02, 2010, 09:30:13 am Bengie gets one regardless of who wins! Would he really want one if the Giants win? I think I would turn it down. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Brian Fein on November 02, 2010, 10:15:33 am I am happy for Cody Ross. Congrats to the Giants. They didn't seem like a powerhouse but they played a great postseason.
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: bsfins on November 02, 2010, 11:01:16 am Congrats to the Giants, I'm shocked and amazed... Bow to the National league Bitches! >:D Wooohoo :D :D :D....Let Free agency begin!
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Spider-Dan on November 02, 2010, 12:36:31 pm Would he really want one if the Giants win? I think I would turn it down. Turn it down? Sell it, or if you're feeling "principled," auction it for charity.Title: Re: The World Series Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on November 02, 2010, 12:50:38 pm auction it for charity. That would work. I just couldn't see myself mounting above the fireplace. Title: Re: The World Series Post by: StL FinFan on November 02, 2010, 01:19:33 pm Happy to see Edgar Renteria get one more before he rides off into the sunset.
Title: Re: The World Series Post by: Landshark on November 02, 2010, 02:15:56 pm I am happy for Cody Ross. Congrats to the Giants. They didn't seem like a powerhouse but they played a great postseason. That they did. They have a lot of young players that could carry this team for years to come. If Giants management is smart, they'll lock guys like Lincecum and Posey in to long term deals immediately. |
