Overall, the majority of Bengals fans were really cool. The problem was our seats were in the second level end zone, and there were alot of jerks near us. There were these 2 guys sitting 2 rows in front of me, and I was 2 seats away from Big Papa. They kept calling us every name in the book, and flipping us off. No problem with them because they left BEFORE Sean Smith's pick. Maybe they wanted to get as far away from us as they could.

The problem was this group sitting in the row directly above us. They were throwing things at us, and there were several verbal altercations. Then, one of the punks put his hands on Big Papa. That was a mistake. Papa turned around and pushed him back into his seat. Next thing you know, security was there telling Big Papa and the guy sitting on the other side of him that they had to go. I lost it, and they told me that one more outburst from me would get me thrown out too. I came VERY close to leaving right then, but I didn't.

Luckily, they let Papa back in shortly after the third quarter started, so he only missed the last 5 minutes of the second quarter, and the first 5 of the third.

I guess they got a little full of themselves since 1999, when I went to a game there.  I am glad they let him back in.

How big was that guy?  Papa Pump is not a guy I would want to mess with.

At pretty much every stadium in a fight between a guy where a home team jersey get in a fight with a guy wearing a visiting jersey...the visiting jersey is getting ejected. 

Thing is Papa Pump is about the nicest guy you'll ever meet.  These guys must have been real a-holes to get him riled up.

Yeah, that's unfortunate, but they did the right thing.  Maybe they just removed him temporarily to cool the tension between the fans and the crowd.  It might be stadium policy?

sad to say you go to games nowadays wearing the road teams jersey and you are asking for trouble.

Sad state of affairs but its a fact. So....

Good ribbing is one thing. Physical altercations is another. Look at what some teams say about visiting WVU. It is nice to be known as a hostile environment, but things can be taken too far.

Sorry, Bill, but you know I gotta speak up because I was there, too, just a few people down from you and a row above.  I saw this happen and really the biggest thing that annoyed me of it all was that it was distracting as hell while we were trying to watch a damn good game (though both teams were sloppy, granted) to that point. 

As you know, my buddy and I went, and my buddy is a big Bengals fan, just as I am a huge Dolphins fan.  I had no problem with any Bengals fan there the entire day, both before, during, and after the game, aside from one little incident with a guy that was sitting behind us who I'm pretty sure was a Bengals fan and just drunk.  But, he was about 55 years old, if I had to guess, and just having a good time.  The only thing that really bothered me was that he asked, a couple times in a row, "Have y'all ever won a Super Bowl?", when as a fan of his team, who should know they never have, even if ours has been awhile since they last did.  Other than him being somewhat annoying for a little while, I actually thought Falcons fans from last year's game were *more rude* than Bengals fans (and I didn't really even find them to be rude, either, I'm just saying if you made me compare, because I didn't have a problem with Bengals fans at all otherwise, and generally enjoyed my interactions with them). 

Regarding those first guys you were talking about, Bill, my buddy and I were watching them, too, and were extremely annoyed by them.  They just looked like a couple of straight-up white trash dudes, right outta the trailer (sorry), with their skanky girlfriend, so I wasn't surprised that they acted like that at all, unfortunately, and am glad we finally started pulling away so they had to shut up and, like you said, duck out early, before we even got the ball back to start kneeling down. 

Yes, I saw all of that happen, but I was confused as to whether those guys were really throwing peanuts at all or just throwing them at each other and, being sloppy drunk or whatever, they were ricocheting onto y'all.  I'm not gonna sit here and say they weren't throwing them on you, I believe it if you say they were, but from the looks of it, it just seemed like that one guy sitting beside my buddy Kyle got way too pissed off for the situation, and he was the one, not Papa, that I remember getting livid when he got touched by one of the Cinci fan guys.  Granted, that's around when Papa and the rest of the folks around you got up, but by that point, I was thinking there was nothing I could do to calm down the situation and just tried to watch the game.  Security sure was there pretty damn quickly, I'll say that.

Meant to include your quote in my original post above, Dave, but yeah, being there and witnessing it, I kinda thought that was the case and it was the *right thing* for the moment.  Even if those guys were throwing things at y'all, I don't think it should've gotten to that point at all.  I think that one guy got pissed off a little bit too quickly.  I don't know, maybe he wasn't in the mood to talk it out at that particular point in time, though.   :D
