Title: Some Interesting Henne numbers... Post by: MikeO on December 11, 2010, 07:46:23 am Omar Kelly on his TWITTER page put up some interesting Henne numbers to ponder.....
•Henne has a career QB rating of 76.2 & has thrown 24 TDs, & 29 Ints. Jets QB Mark Sanchez has a 70.5 QB rating (28TDs-31 Ints) •Henne has a QB rating of 99 against the blitz •In the 4 instances (SD, Jets, Buf) where Chad Henne has had a QB rating lower than 50 in a loss he's responded with a victory the next week. •Henne has thrown 10 of his 15 interceptions on his own end of the field. Two of his interceptions have come in the red zone •Henne's 2-1 against the Jets in his brief career & has a QB rating of 130.4, 87.8, & 91.4 (the lone loss) in those 3 games. The one number that stand out is he only has 2 RED ZONE INT's in his career. For a young QB that isn't awful. I mean of course you never want INT's but only 2 have come in the red zone. We can't give up on this guy after this year. I think a new head coach would do wonders for Henne. I really do. Plus he hasn't had a full season under his belt. To give up early on a 2nd round pick who has shown promise would be unwise. This isn't a Pat White, Patrick Turner, Seasn SMith case here, guys who showed nothing so it was easy to give up on them or cut them, Henne has shown flashes and you don't punt away picks that high and give up yet on that so fast. 1 more year for Henne is a MUST! It'll be interesting to see how he responds. IMHO, he has shown improvement in a lot of areas this year, but there are still a lot of weaknesses that need to be addressed. Some harder than others... I'm particularly worried about the low trajectory of his throws. He might need to adjust his release point a bit during the off-season, which can be a really difficult task. Right now, he's getting too many passes tipped and that needs to stop. His mobility is really poor and not really something that can be worked on directly, but he does need to improve his movement within the pocket and on designed roll-outs. Regardless of how he does respond to last week, I think we need to bring in some competition. If he responds poorly, it needs to be a high pick. If he responds well, a developmental prospect would suffice. Title: Re: Some Interesting Henne numbers... GUT CHECK time was a few weeks back and this team failed. This game is like a preseason game. Play the kids. Let's see what we got for the future. Title: Re: Some Interesting Henne numbers... Title: Re: Some Interesting Henne numbers... Post by: EKnight on December 14, 2010, 09:24:03 am Yes. But NOT because of Henne's stellar play. If Wake and Fields hadn't played as well, or if Sanchez hadn't played so poorly, the outcome may have been quite different. -EK

If the Dolphins had a decent QB last week they win that game by 2 TD's easy. Henne was the only reason the Jets stayed close. I'm a big Henne fan and even I must agree with that statement Title: Re: Some Interesting Henne numbers... Well if that's true the best player for the Dolphins was Mark Sanchez who fared even worse than Henne. The same Mark Sanchez that only 2 weeks earlier was being compared to Phil Rivers and Tom Brady. Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on December 16, 2010, 11:22:31 am Well if that's true the best player for the Dolphins was Mark Sanchez who fared even worse than Henne. The same Mark Sanchez that only 2 weeks earlier was being compared to Phil Rivers and Tom Brady. Not sure the talking heads know anything more about football than me or you and that's saying something. Here is the difference between Henne and Sanchez. Henne plays constantly mediocre regardless of the weather. Sanchez plays quite good in nice weather and like absolutely crap in horrible weather. Now every QB drops off in bad weather. But Henne's drop off is not nearly as bad as Sanchez. Might have something to do with one of them playing for USC and the other for Michigan. So Sanchez would not be a bad QB for a team like the Dolphins (assuming they win enough to get the playoff at home or there road game is to a dome or nice weather). And Henne would be an improvement for the Jets cause while on avg is no better, he doesn't totally suck in a NJ winter. You guys need to swap QBs. Title: Re: Some Interesting Henne numbers... Post by: Pappy13 on December 16, 2010, 11:36:00 am Both QB's didn't get much help from their WR's either. Sanchez had a perfect pass into the corner of the endzone flat out dropped. I didn't see the 1st half of the game, but I've read that Henne had a few passes dropped as well.
Also I'd like to point out that while Henne's completion percentage and yardage were terrible, he did avoid throwing an INT and I believe Sparano gave him credit for throwing a couple passes away instead of trying to force it which he's been known to do, so perhaps Henne learned something even in having a bad performance. And before anyone points it out, yes he did have 2 fumbles, but one clearly wasn't his fault when he was blown up trying to pass. On the other, a slick ball just slipped out of his hand. Happend to quite a few other guys on that day as well. Besides, I have less problem with fumbles than INT's generally. Fumbles are physical errors whereas INT's are often the result of a mental mistake. Henne has not shown a penchant for fumbling, so I'll forgive him for that one on Sunday, although I was a bit disappointed he wasn't able to fall on it and cover it up and perhaps save a FG try. Title: Re: Some Interesting Henne numbers... Post by: Diehard_Dolfan on December 19, 2010, 02:39:17 pm So Sanchez would not be a bad QB for a team like the Dolphins You guys need to swap QBs. Funny I thought about this same idea... Henne just doesn't get it! I'm watching the bills game as I type this and Rich Gannon picked up on something I've noticed for weeks as well. Henne doesn't see the field! The bills walked the safety right up to the LOS and Henne didn't even notice! I saw this same thing last week against the Jets. Then he locks in on his primary receiver, and tries to throw directly into the blitz the times he does see it coming. ??? I was on the Henne band wagon but I've since jumped off we still need a QB! |
