Title: Revisionist history of Dan Henning Post by: bsfins on December 20, 2010, 04:11:23 pm To repeat a quote Mark Twain made famous...“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.”
I thought about our offense, and how shitty it is...I'm a big believer that Henne is a square peg, trying to pushed through a star hole...I've not been a fan of Mr Henning,So I thought I'd compare how Henne has done vs other QB's he's coached...Take this for what you want, I thought it interesting..Lots of losing teams, problems scoring, most of his QB's tend to throw more picks than Tds....We know his offense is based upon the running backs, and running the ball so no shockers IMO..The stats don't tell the whole story, and I'm not trying to state that either.... You hit the nail on the head here. His offense is built around running the ball, solid defense and field position. It's NOT built around attacking through the air. The Dolphins defense has done a decent job in stopping opponents from scoring, but it comes up short in one key statistic, turnovers. Miami is tied for 29th in takeaways. This type of offense might work on a different team, but it hasn't worked for this one.Title: Re: Revisionist history of Dan Henning Post by: CF DolFan on December 21, 2010, 07:05:05 am ‘78 W-L (8- 8 ) - Matt Robinson - Td - Ints (13-16 ) Richard Todd - Td-Ints (6-10) Scoring offense 3rd of 28 Scoring offense 4th of 28 I may have missed one but this seemed to be his best season. Does it seem odd that they had many more interceptions(26) than TDs(19)? Also ... 78 was a long time ago to have peaked!! Pat Ryan had 2 more Int's,but as a team they ran for 21 Td's...and they had a pretty bad defense... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/1978.htm (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/1978.htm) |
