Title: John Jerry & Koa Misi named to NFL all-rookie team Post by: Sunstroke on January 18, 2011, 02:16:49 pm Miami may have had some injury issues with it's first round pick (Odrick) this year, but the Dolphins' 2nd and 3rd round selections definitely stepped it up. As a result, both John Jerry and Koa Misi have been named to the NFL's all-rookie team. http://blog.49ers.com/2011/01/18/iupati-named-to-all-rookie-team/ (http://blog.49ers.com/2011/01/18/iupati-named-to-all-rookie-team/) (please excuse the 49ers source) Offense QB Sam Bradford / Rams RB LeGarrette Blount / Bucs RB Chris Ivory / Saints WR Mike Williams / Bucs WR Dez Bryant / Cowboys TE Rob Gronkowski / Patriots C Maurkice Pouncey / Steelers OG Mike Iupati / 49ers OG John Jerry / Dolphins OT Rodger Saffold / Rams OT Bryan Bulaga / Packers Defense DL Ndamukong Suh / Lions DL Carlos Dunlap / Bengals DL Lamarr Houston / Raiders DL Tyson Alualu / Jaguars LB Rolando McClain / Raiders LB Koa Misi / Dolphins LB Pat Angerer / Colts CB Devin McCourty / Patriots CB Joe Haden / Browns S Eric Berry / Chiefs S T.J. I guess thats rookies for you. I suppose their positions don't typically get as much play time in their rookie year as we gave our guys so perhaps that factored into them getting named.
I think they will both turn out fairly good. But I am fairly surprised that they were essentially starters from day one. The one thing to keep in mind about the all-rookie team, Wade Smith was also a selection at one time.

Misi showed a lot of potential, IMHO. No huge weaknesses and some good plays. But then that's kind of what you'd expect from a high second round pick. Overall, the 2010 draft appears solid. Picks 2-5 all getting playing time, with our first round pick looking great if not for an injury. Wade started all 16 games for the Texans this year....at Guard.... :o Title: Re: John Jerry & Koa Misi named to NFL all-rookie team Post by: MikeO on January 18, 2011, 05:14:27 pm Misi deserved it and played better than most thought.
Jerry missed a lot of time "being sick" esentially. He may have had the same thing IAF had, not sure. I am very high on Jerry going forward. I think he has all the tools to be an elite RG in this league Title: Re: John Jerry & Koa Misi named to NFL all-rookie team Post by: masterfins on January 18, 2011, 05:16:53 pm Kudos to Jerry & Misi!! A Bright Light on a disappointing season.

I remember that the JAX fans were screaming (like we were with The Ginn Family) when Alualu was drafted over the golden boy, Timmy T. Seems like their front office's pick was justified.DL Ndamukong Suh / Lions DL Carlos Dunlap / Bengals DL Lamarr Houston / Raiders DL Tyson Alualu / Jaguars LB Rolando McClain / Raiders LB Koa Misi / Dolphins LB Pat Angerer / Colts CB Devin McCourty / Patriots CB Joe Haden / Browns S Eric Berry / Chiefs S T.J. The one thing to keep in mind about the all-rookie team, Wade Smith was also a selection at one time. I agree on Misi...I think he's going to be solid for the Phins. Another brick to help build up the D...just stack him over there with Vontae Davis and Cameron Wake (and Odrick, maybe, and Clemons...maybe) ..."Ouch" on the Wade Smith flashback. I have to say that I have been extremely impressed with the 49ers rookie OG, Mike Iupati. That guy just flat out beats people up inside. Once he gets his technique polished, I think SF will really have a bulldozing monster for Gore (or whoever) to gallop behind. I like the 49ers "other" first round O-lineman, Anthony Davis, as well...but he's definitely a project, and his inconsistency made him look every bit like the youngest player in the league (which he is) this season. SF is in the same boat as Miami though...desperately seeking that franchise QB to anchor the offense. As poorly as Henne played this season, I'd trade you Alex Smith for him straight-up and in an expedited fashion...and then feel guilty later for having shafted ya so badly. Alex Smith can have the occasional "big stat" game, but until modern medicine perfects the "hand enlargement" process, he just doesn't have the physical tools to be anything better than a career backup. At least Henne still has "young QB" as an excuse for his erratic production. |
