Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: jtex316 on January 21, 2011, 11:20:20 am I voted for "Dolphin Stadium".
This to me is by far the worst POS name ever, which unfortunately immediately followed my favorite stadium name (Dolphins Stadium), which should be the stadium name, since the god damn MIAMI DOLPHINS (with an "s") play there! How can you have a misspelled name as your stadium for 3 fucking years??!?!?!?!?!? Do the Giants play at "Giant Stadium"? Do the Cowboys play at "Cowboy Stadium"? Would the Colts play at "Colt Stadium" if the stadium was named after the team? No, they wouldn't. Also, why drop the "s" after only 1 year? Stupid. Furthermore, everyone called it "Dolphins Stadium" (with an "s") anyways. Dolphin Stadium - 3 seasons of black eye that will never be recovered. Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Dave Gray on January 21, 2011, 01:25:57 pm Damn JTex, you are on a roll. I'm really enjoying these polls.
I picked Pro Player. It was a weird brand. It should've been Pro Player Park (if you're going to use the brand at all), and the company was out of business but still held naming rights for a while. Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: jtex316 on January 21, 2011, 01:28:50 pm ^ Good, I'm glad to hear that. I have a really good one next week (good for the old-schoolers, too).
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: raptorsfan29 on January 21, 2011, 02:10:34 pm It's a toss up between land shark and sun life. I guess i'll pick Land Shark, the name seems so odd for a team called the dolphins.
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Frimp on January 21, 2011, 04:02:50 pm I picked Pro Player, but actually it was originally Pro Player Park. I can't remember if they changed it to Stadium after that first season or sometime during that first season. Pro Player Park was the worst followed by Pro Player Stadium.
Second would be Dolphin Stadium. Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Phishfan on January 21, 2011, 04:12:42 pm I never was fond of Pro Player. I kept calling it Joe Robbie during that period.
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Brian Fein on January 21, 2011, 06:12:11 pm I think they only called it "Pro Player Park" as a pseudonym during baseball season. I don't know if it was ever an official name of the stadium.
But it was the worst because Pro Player (the company) sucks and is out of business now and it was the first time it was called anything other than Joe Robbie Stadium (which is what it should still be). Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: badger6 on January 21, 2011, 09:00:14 pm The best I can say is that the first 2 were great and the last 2 suck ass. Other than that I can't vote !!!
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Thundergod on January 21, 2011, 10:16:12 pm Damn, Jtex makes an awesome point on Dolphin stadium (thought it was stupid myself) I absolutely loathe company named stadiums (which is just about all of them now). Pro Player wins it for me. Retarded name, company went under, and the name stuck even after... ohhhhhh
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on January 22, 2011, 11:50:52 am I went with Sunlife for one reason. Before they bought the rights to the stadium they use to do funny commericals trying to buy the naming rights to all kinds of stuff (including the state of Florida). Since they got the stadium I haven't seen anymore ads of that type. I would have been interested in seeing them continue to expand the ad theme.
I have mixed feeling on whether it is funny or dumb to have a stadium with a shark name for a sea another sea animal. Sharks eat dolphins. Pro Player I thought was one of the better corporate names. I didn't think of the underwear as much of the idea it housed a pro-sport team. Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? But, I liked those Sun Life commercials. I also wish they would have followed up with them. Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: BigDaddyFin on January 22, 2011, 03:31:44 pm Rename the damn thing the New Orange Bowl so the rest of us can get on with our lives instead of all this glitterati bullshit.
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: DZA on January 26, 2011, 09:13:01 pm Im gonna go with LANDSHARK. For one, the beer taste like dog piss :o yeah yeah * who knows what dog pee taste like ;D
I was not for thhe whole Jimmy Buffet thing, I thought it was stupid. Now with SunLife ehhh ;D, it may grow on me. ::) Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Dolarltexas on January 29, 2011, 01:13:47 pm I voted for Pro Player Stadium. When the team removed Joe Robbie's name, they basically spit on their own creator and the creator of the very stadium they were naming all in one disguisting move.
Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: Dave Gray on February 01, 2011, 07:13:39 am I picked Pro Player, but actually it was originally Pro Player Park. I can't remember if they changed it to Stadium after that first season or sometime during that first season. Pro Player Park was the worst followed by Pro Player Stadium. It don't think it was ever officially "christened" Pro Player Park. They talked about it when the announcement was made, but it never got there. They changed it to Pro Player stadium before the first game was played in it, I think. It was a matter of days. I'm not sure if that counts as official. Title: Re: Worst Stadium Name in Team History? Post by: JVides on February 01, 2011, 12:05:23 pm I went with Pro Player. "Hey, I'm catchin' the game at P.P. (sounds like pee-pee) Park! Let's go!"
Or worse: I'm catchin' the game at "underwear stadium!!" It just sounded awful. |
