I think the obvious choice, and in my opinion the odd-ball out of this group is Fergie.

First of all, Fergie is the only celebrity owner that goes by one name, and I kinda hate one-named artists (let me rephrase - you should have to earn one named status. Examples: Michael Jackson [goes by "Michael"]; Elvis Presley [goes by "Elvis"]; Madonna, Pele, etc...). Fergie is NOT in that category.

Secondly, I didn't even know who the hell Fergie was, yet I knew all other Miami Dolphins celebrity owners by name without looking it up (Even Gloria's husband, Emilio).

Next, I have a logical connection for each other owner and why they would have been invited to own a stake in the team, except Fergie. Those are:

Gloria Estefan - Lifetime Miami resident and long-time Dolphins / Marlins / Heat sports fan.
Emilio Estefan - Also longtime / lifetime Miami resident and Gloria's husband
Jennifer Lopez - World-renown and of Latin descent, which is a big draw for Miami / South Florida
Marc Anthony - Jennifer's husband, world-renown, and also of Latin descent
Venus Williams - South Florida resident since the age of 10 and sports icon
Serena Williams - South Florida resident since the age of 9 and sports icon

Fergie - Born in California, non-latin, non-sports icon

Just not a logical connection here.

I hate the idea of celebrity owners unless they were fans before, and had been seen frequently in the stands. For example, if I were a Lakers fan, I would have no problem with it if Jack Nicholson bought into the team. The only ones I like are the Estefans.

not to nitpick but Jennifer Lopez isn't an owner, Marc Anthony is the owner .. she's just married to the owner i guess, and in that light i have no problem with any of the celebrity owners. Really from a business standpoint, it's an investment into a profitable venture.

I'd prefer that they were fans, ala jimmy buffet and the heat. but if i was rich, i'd consider buying into a sports team.

I voted Fergie.....mainly because I can not stand her.....no only because I can not stand her!!!!

Yes. Hispanics make for far better celebrity owners than white chicks from Beverly Hills.

Fergie sells more records than all the rest of them put together.

Not even close.  Jennifer Lopez has sold over 50 million albums, wordwide.

Marc Anthony has sold more than 30 million wordwide.

Those two pale in comparison to Gloria, who is between 95 and 100 million sold worldwide.
 
Fergie sold six million copies of her own album - she isn't in the same country, sales wise, with those three artists.  You're talking about three artists who have been around for decades and appeal to more than just a mainstream audience.  She does very well for herself but is amateur hour by comparison.

If you add BEP album sales in (about 25 million) it gets closer, but still no cigar.

Sells = current   I am not talking about past sales, I am talking about right now.

Define "right now"? Last year? Last 6 months? Last week? Today?

J-Lo gets a pass because of THAT ASS!

Right now, today, the Black Eyed Peas are hot.  I am not busting on the rest of them.  I enjoy their music as well.  If Fergie being hot right now brings more attention to the Dolphins, then good.  Why does she have to be Hispanic or from Florida?  I'm not Hispanic or from Florida, yet I am a fan of the Dolphins.

I picked Fergie, but I hate when she does "Fins Up".

If not for Google, I'd still think that Fergie was the plain looking lady in the Royal Family...The Duchess of Somethingorother.

Slight thread drift....

How do you folks feel about two of your owners being in public licking contests with the QBs of competing teams? 

I wish this was like the Cheerleading contest so that I could pick four of them.
