Title: Marshall at least saying all the right things.
Post by: Pappy13 on April 11, 2011, 12:13:10 pm
http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/04/08/2158053/brandon-marshall-working-toward.html

You got to give Brandon Marshall credit, he at least says all the right things leading up to a season. I thought he was candid, honest and positive with his comments last year leading up to the season and after things didn't quite go the way they expected, I was wondering how he would handle himself. You saw a little bickering at the end of the year, but that's to be expected when you don't make the playoffs. If this is any indication I like what I'm hearing from him again. Lets just hope he and Henne get off to a better start this year whenever they get back on the field. I thought they were out of sync throughout most of the preseason and never really got into a groove during the season. Seems like he understands he's got to get on the same page with Henne to make it work. Let's hope they can do it.

Follow him on Twitter.  His head seems to be in the right place.

I've seen a lot of lobbying on Twitter from both Marshall and Bess to bring Mike Sims-Walker to Miami.  He seems to be on board as well.  I wonder how this plays out...

He said the right things last year, then he started dropping balls every week and throwing balls after plays and was a walking 15 yard penalty.

He is another tough guy to root for. A total clown

Yeah, I'm hoping a new offensive scheme, and new coaching, will put the offense back in forward.  Last year they certainly regressed.  They still don't have the players needed to be a contender, but hopefully they will have a good draft to get them closer.

I like what I'm hearing from Marshall, and I know what sort of talent he brings to the field with him. Hopefully he can have a great season this year.

I don't have a problem with it. There's a lot of uncertainty this season and if injuries break the Dolphins' way, the team is certainly capable of reaching the playoffs. Once there... any given Sunday.

In any event, I'd rather have players that believe, regardless of the odds.

While skeptical (reeeeeally skeptical), I'd obviously be thrilled with that SB matchup... ;D

Personally, I think the team needs a little confidence and swagger.  I love seeing things like this.

I read stuff on Twitter from Vontae, Davone, B-Marsh, Dansby, and others.  I love seeing the confidence.  I hope it shows on the field.

While I want the players THINKING that way, I don't want them putting that on Twitter. However having said that, I don't think anyone gives a whole lot of creedence to what people say on twitter, so in the big scheme of things it's small potatoes.

Why do you care what they put on Twitter?  It has become a real media portal, direct from people.  No media spin, no agenda.  Just people.  I don't understand why the objection...

I haven't looked at it yet, but I'll take y'all's word for it that he said Dolphins vs. 49ers in the Super Bowl.  While I personally would love to see that matchup happen (mostly obviously because my 'Phins would be PLAYING IN THE FREAKING SUPER BOWL!!!!!  ;D ), do y'all think he might have picked the 49ers given their new coach and what all went down this past January???  Methinks it might have a little something to do with it..... Call me "crazy" if you'd like, though.   ;)

Twitter? No agenda? You're joking right?

How is saying it on twitter any different from telling it to a reporter? You think reporters misquote players? Sure the reporter can give you their spin on whatever was said, but I think most people know better than listen to reporters, they come to their own conclusions about what players say. Super Bowl predictions are stupid, no 2 ways about it. Hell we don't even know for sure there will be a 2011 Superbowl let alone who will be in it. It was stupid when Rex Ryan said it and it's stupid when Brandon Marshall says it.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

OK, got it, so you have issue with the content, not the media.  Sounded before like you hate that it was on Twitter, rather than reported on ESPN.

Reporters can give you selective comments (note, not mis-quotes) and spin stuff.  Twitter gives you comments straight from the celebrity themselves.  No media filter.  Twitter is not the bad guy.

And I have no problem with willy-nilly predictions like this.  No one takes them seriously, but its nice to see a guy on the inside have some confidence in his team.  As opposed to a guy like Dicky Williams going on the radio saying how horrible the team is and how much he hates the coaches, etc.

Personally, I prefer the former.

Talks cheap, especially in the off season when few,if anyone is paying attention...Prove it to me on the field....If you're so confident on how good, great you are, don't tell me that you're great...How about not dropping any passes, make a few more people miss...

^^ Agreed!  Talk all you want but back it up on the field.
