Title: I don't miss football. Post by: Dave Gray on April 13, 2011, 11:09:53 pm For the first time in my life, I think, I don't miss football. I'm sure watching the HEAT is partially responsible, as is being busy with work and other stuff. However, this bickering between owners and players is really getting to me.
I normally like to pay attention to stuff in the off-season, but this time, I just can't take anything I see too seriously. I've heard that people lost interest from the various strikes in sports and never really understood it until now. Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: bsfins on April 13, 2011, 11:18:57 pm For me,I admit...I sort of agree....Baseball season has most of my attention, and the draft sort of in the background...I think July when Baseball is waning a bit,I really get the pull for football (and I'm usually saving for my NFL Sunday Ticket)...So I'm not really feeling like I'm missing too much...
Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Brian Fein on April 13, 2011, 11:22:00 pm I never miss football this time of year.
Baseball season just started, so there is a lot of hype and activity there. NHL playoffs just started tonight and already been some great games! NBA, in the background, is winding up and getting ready to get exciting. I typically don't pay much attention to NBA until the postseason, and this year is no different. Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Tenshot13 on April 13, 2011, 11:23:21 pm I always miss football, however, I do agree with you to a point. Last year I was obsessed with draft coverage. I made mock drafts and spent hour researching them. Now, I could care less.
Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Thundergod on April 14, 2011, 12:01:50 am I always miss football. It'll be back, and when it is. I'm there!
Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: fyo on April 14, 2011, 06:31:38 am I miss football just as much as last year... There's more overall "news" being pushed by the media this off season, but since 90% of it is about the labor dispute, I'm reading/watching less than I did last year.
Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on April 14, 2011, 04:40:33 pm I usually don't start missing football until mid summer when baseball is dragging and the NBA playoffs have concluded.
Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Brian Fein on April 14, 2011, 05:18:58 pm ^^ That's about exactly it. Once the novelty of Spring baseball is gone, NBA and NHL are over, that's when you start thinking "where's football?!?"
Its the June-July drought, and in August you get training camps, preseason, etc. Well, hopefully.... Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Sunstroke on April 14, 2011, 06:03:24 pm For me, the novelty of Spring baseball ends in October... ;) I do miss football though...always do this time of year. Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on April 16, 2011, 11:00:52 am For me, the novelty of Spring baseball ends in October... ;) You're a Padre's fan. It ends in September for you. If you want it to end in Oct you need to find a new team. ;D Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Sunstroke on April 16, 2011, 04:09:58 pm Nah, I love baseball so much that it just doesn't matter how well my Padres (or Marlins) are doing... Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: MikeO on April 17, 2011, 10:15:03 pm with no free agency period prior to the draft, the draft lost pretty much all of its luster this year. The teams that were good last year will be good next year. The teams that stunk last year will stink next year.
Probably no rookie in this draft will make a team a contender overnight. Especially with no mini-camps for rookies to learn NFL systems. And trying to sign undrafted rookies, throw that out the window. Those poor guys got no chance to make an NFL roster this year. Plus 3 days of Draft Coverage on ESPN or NFL NETWORK will be downright painful to watch. How can you talk about teams and players with the GIANT elephant in the room of this lockout. Expect record low ratings for this draft. It's gonna be really bad!! The owners made this mess....enjoy it! Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: MikeO on April 17, 2011, 10:20:24 pm Oh and according to ESPN2 and TV Guide the NFL Schedule is released Tuesday

I have had the exact opposite feeling. With no free agency period, I'm more excited about the draft this year. It could be the only football related thing that will happen for the next couple of months. And with none of the holes plugged by free agents, that makes this year's draft more difficult to project. I usually only watch the 1st round, I might try to watch a bit more this year.Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: masterfins on April 19, 2011, 09:46:27 am I have never watched a draft, and don't imagine I ever will. I can think of so many better things to do.
Title: Re: I don't miss football. Post by: Dave Gray on April 19, 2011, 01:08:24 pm I really enjoy watching the draft. I at least watch a portion of it every single year.
