Title: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: MikeO on July 27, 2011, 07:48:03 am Adam Schefter just reported Hasselbeck just agreed to terms with Tenn.
ESPN also reporting Minny will acquire McNabb for TWO 6th round picks if McNabb agrees to a pay cut (he will). So you have Arizona and Miami fighting for Orton and Kolb. http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/18394/Titans-agree-to-deal-with-Matt-Hasselbeck/Default.aspx Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: CF DolFan on July 27, 2011, 08:53:56 am I really don't see Miami going hard after Kolb. It's too risky and not sure we would want another bust from the Eagles.
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Brian Fein on July 27, 2011, 09:58:19 am I'd prefer if we didn't "go after" either of them. I don't think either of them provide a huge upgrade, and just the next bum in the 19-guy-long line of post-Marino bums. And both of them will cost us big-time picks (Philly is asking for a 1st rounder!).

Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Pappy13 on July 27, 2011, 10:19:52 am Thank you Tennessee and Minny. Now can someone please hurry up take Kolb so that Miami can't get him.
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: bsfins on July 27, 2011, 11:15:58 am ^^^ That was sort of my feeling also....The downside to me,I thought it would Arizona making a move for a Qb (trading for Kolb,Orton,Etc,Etc) that would send all the dominoes in motion...Seattle getting T.Jackson,Mcnabb to the Vikings,Thigpen to Buffalo, and Arizona still hasn't played their hand, makes me feel like we'll end up getting Vince Young...(sorry Gag reflex)
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: dolfan13 on July 27, 2011, 11:56:55 am ^^^ just more evidence on how bad henne is and how desperate this regime is in trying to get some kind of upgrade.
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Brian Fein on July 27, 2011, 12:10:57 pm The entire FA QB class (including McNabb, Orton, and Kolb) are turds. None of these guys are franchise QB's or they would be staying put. Personally, I'd rather stick with Henne and see if he improves.
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: bsfins on July 27, 2011, 01:00:09 pm Brian, Kolb and Orton aren't free agents...We'd have to trade for them....
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: shamrock on July 27, 2011, 01:01:46 pm I live in the Titans market, and I can't understand how they let Vince Young go.They argued for a year about Fisher v Young but the numbers don't lie,the Titans won when he played........love to see him in Miami.Hasselbeck will look like a Kerry Collins clone in that offense......and they're going nowhere.
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: SportsChick on July 27, 2011, 01:30:00 pm Adam Schefter on Twitter:
Dolphins and Broncos engaged in trade talks that would send Kyle Orton to Miami. Both teams would like to make it happen. Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Spider-Dan on July 27, 2011, 01:48:05 pm I live in the Titans market, and I can't understand how they let Vince Young go.They argued for a year about Fisher v Young but the numbers don't lie,the Titans won when he played........ You know who else won? Jay Fiedler.Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on July 27, 2011, 03:52:36 pm I would take Orton over Kolb anyday but I am not overly excited about that either. Philly is about to rob AZ blind for DRC and a draft pick for Kolb who has proved nothing in this league. Another in the long line of shitty AZ QB's as well. They could go and get Orton for a 3rd round pick and to me he is definitely the better of the two. I guess if it came down to it being as I am a Fins fan first I would rather Orton be in Miami then Kolb but I would have to suffer watching Kolb here in AZ!!!!
Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: fyo on July 27, 2011, 04:06:31 pm You know who else won? Jay Fiedler. To be fair, he's also the best quarterback we've had since Marino. No, one season of Pennington doesn't get him the spot, IMHO. Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Spider-Dan on July 27, 2011, 05:01:15 pm To be fair, he's also the best quarterback we've had since Marino. No, one season of Pennington doesn't get him the spot, IMHO. I don't dispute that (I think I recently linked an article that argues that Fiedler is the third best Dolphin QB of all time), but I think that speaks more to the ineptitude of Miami QBs not named Griese (excuse me, BOB Griese) or Marino. My point is that it wasn't THAT long ago that we got to enjoy the experience of a QB who "just wins" while doing very little to actually contribute towards that win. It wasn't fun. I'm not looking for the next Mark Sanchez. Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Phishfan on July 27, 2011, 05:25:18 pm ^^^ It wasn't fun because we really weren't winning that much. We had a team that consistently backed into the playoff and limped along. Had the team made the AFC championship twice in a row, I don't think you would mind a Sanchez like QB all that much. Maybe you would complain a bit about how a QB is needed to get over the hump, but you sure as shit would enjoy watching Miami win 11 games regularly.

We had a team that consistently backed into the playoff and limped along. The Jets were the very definition of limping into the playoffs in '09; 9-7 off of two season-ending wins against teams that had already secured their seed.Quote Had the team made the AFC championship twice in a row, I don't think you would mind a Sanchez like QB all that much. Maybe you would complain a bit about how a QB is needed to get over the hump, but you sure as shit would enjoy watching Miami win 11 games regularly. You're joking, right?Fiedler's first year: 11-5, division title, lost in divisional round (note: Sanchez has yet to win a division title) Fiedler's second year: 11-5, tied for best record in AFCE but lost on tiebreakers, lost in wild card round I guess you're saying that when Miami traded for Ricky, I was happy with Fiedler's overall performance to that point? Um, not quite. Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Phishfan on July 27, 2011, 06:24:10 pm I guess you're saying that when Miami traded for Ricky, I was happy with Fiedler's overall performance to that point? Um, not quite. Nope I never said that at all. What I said was you would have more fun. Never said you would specifically be happy with the QB play. Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Landshark on July 27, 2011, 09:08:08 pm Something about Kolb that makes me think he's different. I want him. I have to agree. I'd rather take Kolb over Orton at this point. Kolb isn't exactly a bust. He had his moments in Philly, and is overall a solid QB. Trouble is, Michael Vick was spectacular. Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Sunstroke on July 27, 2011, 09:33:36 pm On Kolb vs Orton, I think Kolb is the better QB, but either would upgrade Miami's QB situation and provide a little stability to the offense. I'd be happy to see Miami land either one. My beloved 49ers are going with Alex "doll hands" Smith under center again this season, at least until Colin Kaepernick gets ready. I've read some good things about Kapernick this offseason, so hopefully he'll be the long-term answer at the most important position for SF. On another 49ers note, though it affects Miami as well... I keep hearing that SF is the only team standing between the NY Jets getting Nnamdi Asomugha and fielding arguably the scariest cornerback tandem ever with Darrelle Revis. Can I get a few 'Phins fans to shout out a "Go Niners!" on that scene? Title: Re: QB News: Hasselbeck to Tenn, McNabb to Minny Post by: Guru-In-Vegas on July 28, 2011, 01:24:34 am ^^^ OMG YES!!! But probably doesn't mean much since the niners are my #2. ;)
