Big upgrade for Arizona.

Similarly to the Kyle Orton situation, it's not a Super Bowl winning move, but how many of those moves are realistically out there? One, if you're lucky? So you try to get the best you can.

Kolb is this year's top free-agent QB.

I despise this trade.......the Bidwells are dumbasses and way overpaid for a subpar backup QB. The plan of drafting Peterson to team up with DRC to make a really good corner combo gone just like that. The Cards have shipped out a ton of talent over the last few years and are again looking at a 5 win season and can go ahead and wave goodbye to Fitz as he leaves after this season.

I'm glad Kolb is off the table and 'zona out of the running for Orton. Kolb is getting a boatload of money and the Cardinals had to give up a second round draft pick + a top corner for the privilege. I can't even imagine what the phins would've had to give up to get him.

I don't think Kolb was a free agent.  And while I'm a little disappointed that Kolb will (potentially) drive up the price for Orton, when Vince Young is officially released, Denver's (and Orton's) leverage is greatly reduced.  Right now, it looks like there are exactly 3 teams with legitimate openings for a permanent starter: MIA, OAK, and WAS.  And I'd say Miami's a significantly better option than the other two (especially if Oakland loses Asomugha).

Kolb was not a free agent hence the above mentioned raping of the Cardinals!!!!!

Why are the Dolphins "more attractive" than OAK or WAS?

Both OAK and WAS have won playoff games in the last 10 years (OAK went to a Super Bowl). What have the Dolphins done?

As bad as Ross is the Dolphins have owner is not completely incompetent.  Oak and Was are wastelands until they get new ownership/leadership.

The Dolphins had an undefeated championship season and the winningest coach of all time, and have the second-highest all-time winning percentage of any NFL team.  I mean, while we are listing off irrelevant historical factoids.

Now, as for today: Oakland has arguably the worst owner in the league; a rare combination of poor financial decisions and a complete inability to work with head coaches.  Oakland also hasn't had a winning season since 2002, and just snapped an NFL-record seven-straight seasons with 10+ losses.  And the Dolphins stomped them in their own house less than 9 months ago, for whatever that's worth.

Washington also has an owner noted for his poor football acumen, excessive meddling, and horrible choices on who to pay.  Presuming that we are still starting the clock right after the end of the Dolphins five-straight playoff appearances from 97-01 (because otherwise, why make this argument?), in that time frame WAS has had 2 winning seasons and five 10+ loss seasons (MIA has had 4 and 3, respectively).  But on the bright side, the last time the Redskins won their division, it was following a week 17 win over the Dan Marino-led Miami Dolphins.  So there is that.

Stephen Ross may be headed down the Al Davis/Dan Snyder road, but he is far from THERE right now.  He flirted with canning Sparano (ungraciously, at that) but at the end of the day, he gave him an extension.  In other words, Ross might wind up like Davis or Snyder, but those two ALREADY ARE Davis and Snyder.

For some reason, Kolb has the stink of AJ Feely about him IMO.
