I've always disliked Mayweather, and this is as cheap as it gets...but I agree with StL, never let your guard down.

The ref called time and Ortiz didnt hear him say the fight was back on..

Meyweather isnt going to fight Manny because he knows that he is going to lose

Why was the ref not watching the fight if time was back on?

It was a cheap shot and only someone who was scared would have done that. It says a lot about who he is as a person.

All I've seen is the clip running in this thread. I really need to see it in context. It is apparent the fight was coming back from some kind of break. I'm not sure if the signal to resume had been given or not based on what I can see. The other guy definitely didn't have his guard up, but if the fight is on, the fight is on.

Aren't they coming together to shake hands at the beginning of the round?

It looks like Mayweather still has his boxing guard up while the other guy is trying to hug him (notice who hugs who). That was stupid on the other guy's part. Don't hug your opponent in the middle of the ring or you're going to get knocked out!

From what I heard on the radio, it was a break in the action because Ortiz had given Mayweather a deliberate headbut and was getting a point taken away. I wonder if that changes anyone's position?

I did not see the fignt nor do I really care about it but would the ref have counted him out if he did not give them the signal to fight? I have never seen a ref count somebody out on a break! Either way I agree with never let your gaurd down and hug someone after the fight is over not in the middle of a match. Stupid move by Ortiz.

If you see the full clip, you see this part.  The head butt was a cheap shot and apparently Mayweather did not want to hug and be friends after being head butted.

Mayweather gets headbutted...and he's cheap?

I would have done the same thing.  Screw Ortiz.

Here's what I saw. 

1. Mayweather gets head-butted.  For what reason I don't know.  One second Ortiz is pounding away at him in the corner then he literally jumps in the air to headbutt him.

2. Ortiz appologizes, gets point deducted.  Ortiz hugs Mayweather. 

3. Ortiz hugs Mayweather again.  Referee Joe Cortez starts to walk toward the scoring table.

4. Ortiz hugs Mayweather a third time, steps back with his hands down.  Cortez is still looking at the table.  Mayweather hits him in the face. 

5. Ortiz looks at Cortez, Mayweather hits him again, Ortiz goes down.

It didn't really look all that cheap to me other than maybe Ortiz thought it was still a timeout or something.  I'd pay good money to know what the fuck Cortez was looking around all lost like that about.  Howsoever, the phrase "protect yourself at all times" applies here.

Eye for an eye...man...2 cheap shots...Mayweathers counted...good for him!
