Title: Cutler is good. Bears are not.
Post by: Dave Gray on October 11, 2011, 02:26:10 pm
Cutler has gotten a ton of crap from Bears fans.

He might not be an elite QB, but damn -- he's pretty damn good....he has no time.  I've seen criticism of the Bears' line on sports shows, but I think this is the first game I've watched (vs. the Lions) where I saw the whole thing.  No time -- all game.  He's back-peddling on every single throw.  It's amazing that they're even competitive in games.  It's some of the worst protection I've ever seen.  The defense is in his face all the time.  He doesn't even have time to drop back and set.  Really, really bad.

He had a good game last night, but Cutler is one of the most bipolar QBs in the game. He can look like Dan Marino one week, and Dan Orlovsky the next.

To be fair, he was playing against possibly the toughest defensive front in the league last night...  Those guys are scary good.

Cutler [snip] damn -- he's pretty damn good....he has no time.  I've seen criticism of the Bears' line on sports shows, but I think this is the first game I've watched (vs. the Lions) where I saw the whole thing.  No time -- all game.  He's back-peddling on every single throw.

Here's some data on "short" sacks allowed, that is sacks in 2.5 seconds or less:

Chicago is solidly in the worst third, but they're no match for the Dolphins and their top-flight o-line.

It seems like Cutler is the bunny at a greyhound track.  As soon as he gets the ball, he's running for his life.

He does his line a favor by not taking sacks, and running around in the backfield as soon as the snap starts.  What QB can play under those circumstances?

Agreed.  He reminds me of Jeff George.

I gotta admit,I've been on Cutler's case pretty hard, but he played his ass off against the Lions.
