Post by: Sunstroke on October 12, 2011, 09:40:49 am Nice to see the 49ers crack the top-10...though all I really care about is winning the NFC We Title: Re: NFL Power Rankings !! Post by: Landshark on October 12, 2011, 02:22:56 pm Just a thought here. If the Rams are in need of receiving help, offer them Brandon Marshall for their top draft pick.
With two picks that will probably be in the top 5, the Dolphins chances of getting Andrew Luck have increased big time. Title: Re: NFL Power Rankings !! Post by: Dave Gray on October 12, 2011, 02:45:25 pm Do you think Brandon Marshall + his contract are worth a 1st round pick, though? Would you do that if you were St. Louis?

Would you do that if you were St. Louis? Depends on how close they think they are. If they have two first round picks next season chances are they won't be able to afford both, Marshall's contract would be worth more to them. This is not a bad idea. Marshall and, say, a 3rd rounder for the higher of the Rams' two first round picks next season. He's not a bad "chip" to trade away. Title: Re: NFL Power Rankings !! Post by: Dave Gray on October 12, 2011, 03:29:03 pm I agree, if you can get another team to go for it. Generally speaking, though, you can't trade away underachievers with huge contracts for 1st round picks.
Title: Re: NFL Power Rankings !! Post by: Spider-Dan on October 12, 2011, 03:41:13 pm Brandon Marshall wasn't worth a first-round pick 2 years ago when Miami got him. He's damn sure not worth one now... much less a first-rounder from a team in the running for the #1 overall pick.

If the Rams are in need of receiving help, offer them Brandon Marshall for their top draft pick. If Miami made that trade offer, we'd be able to hear the laughter coming out of St. Louis all the way down to South Beach. Marshall might net you a 4th round pick...if we can convince them not to look at game film from this season. Asking for a high first rounder is blatant wishful thinking. Just because the Dolphins front office is mentally challenged, doesn't mean every front office is. Title: Re: NFL Power Rankings !! But when you add draft picks to the mix, it increases the value. Title: Re: NFL Power Rankings !! Post by: Dave Gray on October 13, 2011, 05:43:11 pm Draft picks drop in value enormously from pick to pick. If you don't have the #1 pick and you're going to trade up to get it, it's going to cost you a ton, even if you're drafting from a relatively high position.
If we're, say, 3rd, we'll probably have to package 2 first rounders to move up 2 spots. It's crazy expensive at that elite talent level. And honestly, I'd probably do it. To effectively move from 4th to 1st for Eli, NYG gave up two 1sts, a 3rd, and a veteran player. If we're, say, 3rd, we'll probably have to package 2 first rounders to move up 2 spots. If you had the top pick in the draft, and you didn't need a QB, and the team picking second also picks third, would you take both those picks and let that team have the top pick? |
