Star players still have the freedom, the incentives and/or the leverage to dictate their whereabouts ... and their whereabouts always seem to involve the same half-dozen teams. Unless you're going to create some kind of loyalty incentive, where a team retaining a player can do it at a reduced cap hit. The labor dispute being attributed to only the "big three moving to Miami" just leaves out a lot of the story.

Or a system of franchise tags, restricted free agent, etc. What the NFL does.
