We went for it on 4th and 1 twice and got nothing. That's bad. (Although one was a fumbled snap.) Still, they didn't get push today. It hurt not having Long. Maybe his play declined enough in the preseason and camp, that the right move was to cut him. Something has to be said for the fact that no one picked him up. -EK

If Polite was still that talented, surely someone would have picked him up. I don't remember anyone even giving him a look, so he clearly wasn't the player he was previously. Talent does, actually, decline; perhaps his did. You can't say with certainty that a guy who isn't good enough to even make somebody else's practice squad would still be able to convert those fourth downs. Maybe he would have, maybe not. We didn't lose that game because Polite wasn't on our roster though. -EK
