Still a quarter to play as I type this, but Daboll was REALLY bad calling 3rd and 4th down plays through 3 quarters today.

I have to give it to our O-Line coach.

We went for it on 4th and 1 twice and got nothing.  That's bad.  (Although one was a fumbled snap.)  Still, they didn't get push today.  It hurt not having Long.

Whoever took over for Long.  Trent Cole was raping him.

That would be Nate Garner.  And I agree.

It's a good thing Miami got rid of that useless fullback that was leading the league in -and-1 conversions.  But hey, when you have the opportunity to have Jeron Mastrud or Will Yeatman on your team, well, you have to pull the trigger on that one.

Excuse me... you have to pull the trigger on both of them.  And I think their combined 1 reception for 8 yards speaks for itself.

I understand where you're coming from, Spider, but it's hard to fault Miami for cutting Polite, when not one of the other 31 teams thought he was good enough to pick up. Maybe his play declined enough in the preseason and camp, that the right move was to cut him. Something has to be said for the fact that no one picked him up. -EK

"Nobody else wanted him" does not convert a 4th down.  Miami cut a player that filled a role so they could keep a player that literally has not played a single game for the Dolphins.  That is not a good move.

I can't speak for the team, but I'm guessing they thought either Clay, Thomas, or Hilliard was good enough to do what Polite did. If Polite was still that talented, surely someone would have picked him up. I don't remember anyone even giving him a look, so he clearly wasn't the player he was previously. Talent does, actually, decline; perhaps his did. You can't say with certainty that a guy who isn't good enough to even make somebody else's practice squad would still be able to convert those fourth downs. Maybe he would have, maybe not. We didn't lose that game because Polite wasn't on our roster though. -EK
