I know this is an extreme "if", but if the Dolphins were the next team to have, or flirt with, a perfect season, would Mercury Morris and the gang still have the champagne on ice in hopes for a Miami loss? 1972. Is it about THEM or the TEAM?

That strikes me as super-duper dumb for him. If the Fins went undefeated again, he'd be a superstar. They'd be toting all of those old guys out with the new ones in dual ceremonies and he'd get his hayday all over again. He'd be a legend to the city.

I somehow even doubt the feigning happiness part of it. But, if he was publicly upset, he'd have even Dolphins' fans turn on him. Dumb move for him.
