Title: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: Sunstroke on February 02, 2012, 06:35:07 pm All over the news now...Peyton has gotten medical clearance to play. I like Eli's big brother, and hope he doesn't have any more issues with his neck. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it becomes an ongoing issue. Mr. Irsay...you're on a couple of clocks. Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: MikeO on February 02, 2012, 06:48:05 pm Phase 1 of his return. The neck is fine but the nerves to the neck which gives him arm strength is still an issue. But this is a GIANT first step in the right direction. A huge first step.
Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on February 02, 2012, 07:00:59 pm I too hope he is healthy and can regain his prior form. I would love to see him in Miami and if the Dolphins don't get him then I would be happy to see him every Sunday here in AZ!!!!!
Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: EKnight on February 02, 2012, 07:06:14 pm Phase 1 of his return. The neck is fine but the nerves to the neck which gives him arm strength is still an issue. But this is a GIANT first step in the right direction. A huge first step. +1. Along these lines, Chris Mortensen worded his report very carefully: "The sources said Watkins examined Manning recently in Los Angeles and concluded the stability in his neck would have allowed the quarterback to play this Sunday if the nerves in his arm had regenerated to a satisfactory performance level,” Mort writes. So the nerves in Manning’s arm likely haven’t necessarily regenerated to a satisfactory performance level yet. Essentially, it’s sounds like it’s safe for Manning to play again, but he’s not able to be effective yet. “It’s not a safety issue; it’s a performance issue,” one source said. So Manning is not “back.” This may not even qualify is particularly new information. He doesn’t know yet when or if his arm will perform at an acceptable level. One source told Mort it could take until May. Left unsaid is that it might not happen at all." Still a ways to go, but def. a step forward. -EK Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: Sunstroke on February 02, 2012, 07:55:14 pm So Manning is not back. This may not even qualify is particularly new information. 1) No one, in any post in this thread, said that Manning is back...just that he's been "medically cleared to play." 2) The medical clearance came "today"...so it IS new information. Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: Pappy13 on February 02, 2012, 08:16:07 pm I'd still sign him the day that Indy cuts him on the mere chance that he'll make it all the way back. Hell I'd take Manning at 90% arm strength, it'd be like having Chad Pennington 2.0.

That entire post was not me. I literally had about 20 words of my own. Everything in between the quotation marks was taken from what Mort was reporting, so calm down and get off my ass. I posted what was reported. Yell at ESPN, not me. -EK Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: bsmooth on February 03, 2012, 04:00:05 am Irsay is now saying he is not cleared to play.

Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: EKnight on February 03, 2012, 10:38:58 am Your clarification came across to me- and this is just me- as directed at me, not the article. If that wasn't the case I apologize. Mike and Spider have made me hyper-sensitive to attacks /perceived attacks apparently. -EK
Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: Sunstroke on February 03, 2012, 03:04:17 pm ^^^ That's because it was directed at you...though I still think that categorizing my comments as being on your ass or yelling at you are a bit of a misinterpretation. You should just consider them to be me clarifying my position as: 1) Being medically cleared is different than being back, and being medically cleared was the subject of the thread. and 2) The medical clearance occurred within an hour before I posted the thread, which means that whether or not you felt that the news was relevant or not didn't stop the information from being new. P.S. The above comments were typed using a casual and conversational tone. ;) Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: fyo on February 03, 2012, 04:16:10 pm The medical clearance comes as absolutely no surprise. This was NEVER an issue. The nerve regen. IS the issue and always was the issue and there's no definitive word on that yet. Irsay makes some rather negative comments on the current status, claiming Manning can't even feel the ball at times.

I was not the one saying whether he was cleared or not, nor was I the one who said the news was relevant. Those were Mort's comments. I was posting them to add to to the thread. I actually agree that it was relevant, but he said otherwise, not me. -EK1) Being medically cleared is different than being back, and being medically cleared was the subject of the thread. and 2) The medical clearance occurred within an hour before I posted the thread, which means that whether or not you felt that the news was relevant or not didn't stop the information from being new. everyone has an agenda to play here... the nerve with respect to the neck was always the issue, now it's interesting to see that language shifting to the arm. to me, sounds like a lot of spin coming from the colts camp. they went all in on luck, figuring manning was done for. now that peyton is loudly proclaiming that he is going to play, they are kind of backed into a corner. they have to paint manning as damaged goods to save some face. Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: Landshark on February 03, 2012, 06:43:02 pm Irsay is now saying he is not cleared to play. According to the standards of the doctors for the Colts. Sound like he's justifying getting red of Manning. Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: MikeO on February 03, 2012, 06:49:51 pm Armando from the Miami Herald is reporting that Peyton and his wife bought a condo in South Beach not that long ago and they both love the area. They love everything about South Florida. Peyton has always loved the area and has told people that for years and his wife is a big fan of the area as well.
Happy Wife=Happy Life Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: Sunstroke on February 03, 2012, 07:00:19 pm Also in a casual and conversational tone- I believe you misinterpreted what I posted. You're right, and I apologize... I misread quotation placement, and thought the first part was Mort and the bottom was your own opinion. My bad...and worse, since I am technically a professional writer and editor. Heave-ho-ing things back on track: I understand the issues involved with the nerve damage and regeneration issues he's dealing with in his arm, but I definitely hope he gets back to being the old "at full-strength" Peyton Manning again. I'm not a Colts fan, but I've been a football fan my entire life, and I love watching Peyton play the game. It's like watching a maestro conductor leading a symphony orchestra...and I'd hate for the music to end without one final movement. Title: Re: Manning Cleared to Play Post by: el diablo on February 03, 2012, 07:53:20 pm Well you don't want that final movement to end with the conductor being carted off the stage...
