Last year only about 4 or 5 of us did this,but I did find it interesting,and fun......

Quick Explanation...for those who didn't play,you select 1 MLB player a day to get a hit,as long as he get's one hit that day...You win,he fails you lose....The players lock when the first game of the day starts...

I pretty sure it was Brian who started this last year,but I remember joining about mid year...I was hoping for a slightly better jump getting started this year...

Who's up for it this year? Shall I make a group?

I've not seen any jump picks (the guy you automatically pick if you forget to pick if you have a streak of 3 or less)

The one Get out of jail free card,one time if you have a streak broken between 5-9 you get a free pass....

The Double down,being able to pick two people,but both have to hit or your streak is broken...but goes up by two if you win....

I went for the double dip myself......I will probably use that quite a bit to get a good streak going then start getting more conservative. My goal is to pass my 15? gamer from last season. I think that is what it was.

I think you are right on the 15... I was one behind you on my last streak at the end of the year, and I'm pretty sure I was at 14.

I got my second consecutive double dip last night with the combo of Either/Braun. I had Cabrera today and he got a hit as well....streak is up to 5.

I got sucked in with a solid career average against Romero.  I should've just stuck with Matt Kemp like I had..I got greedy with the double down

I hit 1 of 2 on a double dip and got 1.  Wierd.  I guess if you pick 2 and one doesn't play, you get the 1. 

Not complaining.

Yeah if a player ends up not being in the starting line-up and you choose him, it doesn't count against you..unless he pinch hits and doesn't hit.  Then you're beat.



Also, is there a loop-hole in this double down/dip/whatever?  I've seen people double up on the same player.  Does that work?

Not sure how you could pull that off... I just tried to put the same player in there twice for the double down, and it didn't give me the option at all.

I guess there's no jumpstart pick this year?  I forgot to make picks over the weekend and went into the crapper.  I thought I remembered picking A-Gone as my jumpstart pick...

Maybe you're looking at the results wrong....It's up and down for the picks that day,they might have picked the same guy back,to back days (the name appearing next to each other.......I didn't see anyone who picked the same person twice in the same day,the only way I could see that happening is a double header.I admit to not following too closely this year,that might have been one this year?

Sitting on a 9 game streak currently and looking to extend that today with a little Miggy Cabrera action.

I have to admit, While my paltry 4 game max winning streak I had till yesterday made me feel good....I'm ecstatic that we started so early,and not too worried about getting a long streak going yet (I have very little hope of getting a 20+ streak,but Damn I'm gonna try!) I think we'll eventually get in a nice rhythm,and have some nice streaks going...

Since we are still really early,Predict what you think your longest streak will be this year....

I think sometime in May or June...I'll get a 13 gamer,it will probably be my years best...(I think that's 1 or 2 better than last year)

While last year I had a 15 gamer I would like to say that I improve upon that so I will go with at least a 20 game streak this year and hope for more.

Good luck with the double dip....I have not had a lot of luck with it myself. I usually get 1 of them to get a hit or 2 while the other goes 0'fer.

Nice run Stroke.....I have gone 4 straight days with an 0'fer due to the double dip.....I think I may start picking 1 at a time again it seemed to work ok for me last year.

same exact thing here.  I keep trying to get back to where I was "faster," and my theory is that double dip will help that.  Clearly it isn't working!!

I can hit the double dip regularly, I feel like I have a good system going.  But my problem is remembering to make picks everyday, especially on weekends.  I liked how, last year, they had the "if you forget to make a pick we'll put in your backup buy" feature.  This year, not so.  They want you going to their site every day.

Yeah I liked that feature too and I wish they would devlop an app for Android like the have for the Iphone. I used mine a lot last year but thankfully I was able to part with that horrible device during the off season.

Picked a good night to pick Ryan Braun last night season high streak of 6 (as I'm currently jinxing it)...Too bad I don't have a fantasy team with him....3HR's and triple  :o

I had Braun active on my Baseball Challenge roster last night... 24 points all by himself. He outscored the other 8 hitters I had on my roster combined.

I've felt really good about most of my picks lately,starting to get into a groove.I tend to pick 3-4 days in advance...

I gotta say I'm not really interested in this competition this year.  I can't seem to get a streak going because some days I'm too busy to remember to make picks and I just go back to zero.  I am thinking I might just let this one float away... 

Sucks, it was a good contest, but they kinda ruined it for me.

Going with Derek Jeter and Ian Desmond on the double down...trying to get back to double digits.

Brian...you can set your picks way in advance, and you don't need to use the double down feature, so you could play it exactly like you did last year.

Not really - last year I had batting average leader Adrian Gonzalez listed as my "if i forget to make a pick" pick, and when I often would forget to make a pick, it would give me the guy with the 0.368 average. 

I've submitted picks for the next week+ and we'll see how it goes.

Ok,Fantasy Gods,I've learned my Lesson...I wont pick two players from the same team again...Thank you for giving Either the single in the 7th,and Mr Kemp a triple in the Top of the 8th....Back to 4...

Totally forgot about that aspect of the game last year...mainly because I never actually used it.

What keeps me from forgetting to make a pick is the same thing that helps me make (what I hope will be) the right pick... ESPN's Baseball Challenge game. I have to do that one daily as well, and setting my roster there (which I do right before this game) means that I go through each position and sort all players at that position by how productive they've been (hits/runs/RBI) over the past 15 days. Once I have all the players at one position in production order, I tap a link to show me those players' BVP (batter vs pitcher) history against the starting pitcher they're going to face the next day. I take the best combo of hot hitter/best history I can find, then move to the next position and repeat the process until my roster is full. By the time I finish my BBC roster, I usually have a pretty good idea which player(s) I want for my streak game. Not that those players always work out, but the system at least gives me some solid options to consider.

Sort of a way around not having a jump pick,just pick one guy,and go out the farthest you can.(looking at today that's up to May 14) Throw him in for as far out,you can always change them when you remember...At least you're fairly covered for a week, in case you forget,you have a weeks worth of picks.They can always then be doubled down,or changed in case you forget,or get busy...unfortunately it's not automatic... :-\ Sorry for being captain obvious, I just enjoy having Brian in the game...

I was travelling last week, so I did exactly what you said - I picked 7 days in advance and couldn't check it while I was out.  I just found out today I was up to 7.  And Matt Kemp couldn't get a hit off of Father Time - err - Jamie Moyer.

Matt Kemp is starting to look like a lot of hype.  Too bad I picked him again tonight.

Considering Matt Kemp was one strike away from a Golden Sombrero when we saw him..... I picked him tonight too

I've had two streaks of 10+ so far this season, but I've been gacking on the streak chicken bone lately... I can't imagine how stressed out I'd get if I took a streak up into the 30's.

I would have hit every single one of my pre-set double downs if I didn't make a last second switch on the 25th from Yonder Alonso to Derek Jeter.  Would have had 11 in a row before David Wright F'ed me yesterday...

How about a round of applause for Lil B for his streak of 17 straight games.  His streak, along with everyone else's, was snapped by Adrian Beltre yesterday. 

What a bum.  Jason Marquis has a 6.08 ERA and a WHIP near 2 and Beltre can't muster up 1 single hit.  He duped us all.

I actually feel like my 17 is a little false...June 11 A.J. Ellis got me the odd number,he walked 4 times,and it didn't end my streak...It's like he didn't play...

for 5000 points you can get a customization jersey...I'm at 3435...My long streak of zero's probably killed my chances...I'd love to have a customized Cub's jersey...

I can't seem the build a decent streak in this damn game this year.

As far as ESPN beat the streak goes it seems everytime I get a good 5 or 6 gamer going doesn't matter what I pick I lose then follow that up with a 5 or 6 game losing streak. I hit 5 or 6 wins 4 times in July. Really frustrating.

Are there really 57 hits on a given night?  I guess so, if there's 15 games, each team would have to get 4 hits.  And you'd have to predict every one of them.

I at least used some strategy when picking my guys, it wasn't just arbitrary. 

It'll be interesting to see who can get the most right out of the 57.

^^^^The only real problem I see with this is that this time of year some of those 57 may not start if the teams are not in playoff contention or have their spots locked up. By like you said what's the worst that can happen....I don't have 5.6 million now so no loss.

Well, I picked my guys based on hot streaks and tendency to play every day. Guys like Carlos Ruiz, who I thought might not play today, I stayed away from.

So far I know there are 2 guys that I deviated from my strategy and picked as fill in guys. Jose Reyes and matt Kemp. Reyes was 0-4 tonight.  So I'm out...
