Title: All things HEAT Post by: Dave Gray on April 11, 2012, 01:12:05 pm I watch every single game, but don't really post about it much, because game-to-game, the NBA is pretty meaningless.
It's getting important now, though. First off, what's up? We can't defend, our role-players can't shoot, and we appear sluggish. We also don't finish like we had. Lots of sloppy layups that result in breaks the other way. Secondly, would you say that the HEAT are better off getting the 2nd seed than the 1st? The first seed will likely play Knicks, then Celtics. The second seed will likely play 76ers, then Magic. The trade off is that you get one fewer home game in the ECF. Everyone on the planet seems to hit 3's on Miami like there's no tomorrow. I'm hoping the Heat can turn it on come playoff time 'cause looking at these stats is disturbing: •The Heat are 10-7 since March 1. They were 27-7 before that. •They have four double-digits losses since March 1. They had two double-digit losses in the 34 games before that. •Their defense has fallen off. They've allowed their opponents to shoot at least 45% in 10 of their last 17 games (they only allowed >45% in 9 of their first 34 games). •They've been out-rebounded 21 times this year, 10 of those games have come since March 1. •They had six "big" games on the road against playoff teams since March 1 (Lakers, Magic, Bulls, Thunder, Pacers, Celtics), and lost them all. Title: Re: All things HEAT Post by: mboss on April 13, 2012, 02:33:50 pm With a compressed schedule this year, and the Heat having no depth past the big 3, it makes sense that they would be wearing down a bit. I'm sure they can turn it up a notch come playoff time, but will be enough? Wade just does not seem happy. I know this sounds crazy but against teams like the Bulls him coming off the bench may make more sense. Since the Heat play mostly isolation type ball, there is not enough ball to go around when James and Wade are on the floor together. If you have Wade come in mid-late 1Q when the opponent starts their bench rotations it may keep the offense from getting stagnant and keep the Heats 2nd unit competitive. I don't think Spolestra would have the stones to do that though.
