Title: What's wrong with Josh Johnson?
Post by: Brian Fein on April 12, 2012, 10:12:32 am
Your ace has 1 bad start (on national TV on opening night), you kinda shake it off and say "get em next time"

After 2 bad starts, you start to get concerned.

In 2 games, Josh Johnson:

9.2 IP, 21 Hits, 9 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

Last night was supposed to be a "pitching duel for the ages" - Johnson vs Halladay.  But, somehow Johnson didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

So, anyone have any idea what could be wrong with him?

In 2 games, Josh Johnson:

No you don't.  It's 9 innings over two starts.

You relax and understand it's a long season.  He'll be fine.

Not freaking out, moderately concerned.

Yes its 9 innings but its 2 starts.  Your ace starter can't get out of the 5th inning in his first 2 games.

I realize its early, but I wonder if last season's injury is lingering at all.

It probably is and he is in the process of shaking the rust off.  If he continues to pitch like this in a couple months, then I would worry.
