Title: TDMMC Gridiron challenge?
Post by: bsfins on August 29, 2012, 12:57:37 pm
I thought now that the TDMMC Fantasy draft is over, it might be safe to ask about this...

Is there any interest in doing the gridiron challenge?

The fantasy-like weekly challenge thing,Where you have so much money to spend each week to form a line up.The one where I spend about 30 minutes a week debating,Do I spend the extra .1 on this guy,or that guy...

Yeah the one that I always end up next to last above the guy who hasn't changed his lineup since week 8..but I still like to play...

any interest?

I'm in.  I picked my team.  I have all studs.

I wish they ran it where you could cut a guy and keep his cap space.  For example, if I pick Tom Brady and he costs 5 million dollars, and he goes up to 5.5 million, then I could cut him and still have his 5.5 million in the bank.  Similarly, if I picked Reggie Bush for 4 million, and he went down to 3.8 million, I'd lose 0.2 million from my cap.  Treat players like the stock market.  Makes it more fun to try to "sell high" on guys that are overperforming.

I thought the same thing last year, especially when you have a guy that goes way up in value and you reach a buy week, then you have to take zero pts to keep him, or downgrade.

Pick players, they do good...Their value goes up..They have to do really bad to get the value to go down...(IE Forte got hurt and his value went up)..They get hurt, you're get screwed, you bought at 5,they are now valued at 6.You only have 5 to replace them with...

The value 5 is the second string guy on the team...

It's frustrating as all hell...I'm usually on the bottom... :D

LOL I was looking at that this morning too. I had to remove Forte because he was injured and I thought about picking up LeShore....kinda sad I didn't as he had a nice game, but I wasn't sure how much he was going to carry the rock. I was surprised to see he got a bulk of the carries and Kevin Smith didn't get 1. I picked up Benson instead and hope he and Rodgers can have a good game tonight to keep me atop of the leaderboard.

^^ Forte's injury, bit me in the ass also...I was also really nervous that both my Starting Wr's Calvin Johnson, and Juilo Jones were listed as Questionale till Friday...I thought I was already in rebuild mode... :D

I always suck at this game,So seeing me on top of the standings even for a day...was super shocking for me... :D

Watch out below... :D I have no where to go but down... ;D

I just hate that you get punished when players values go down, yet you do not get rewarded when they go up. Also if you have to drop a player for an off week and their value has gone up from when you bought them, you may not be able to afford to buy them back a week later.

^^^^Top that off with how generous they are with adding value but not taking it away. Benson went up .3 last night on pathetic rushing average and a 1 yard TD run. If you look closely you will see this a lot across the board.

I had to drop Forte because of his injury, and if you look at his value it's still up there and hasn't come down.  Key to this game is picking good guys the first week and just hoping they don't get injured.  Also, keeping them the bye week if their value has gone way up and you know you can't get them back.  For those of you with Ray Rice you really should drop him now, heard he's out for the rest of the season. 8)

Man, I suck at this something fierce.

I have never done this type of game/league before so it is new to me. I like some aspects of it and hate other things about it. I think by the time I finally get the hang of it the season will be over...lol

^^^ The problem is at this point if you aren't locked in with good players @ QB, RB, & WR you are screwed.  All the values have shot up so high that you can't switch to another good 1st string player without sacrificing 2 or 3 positions. As Lil B and others said, it wouldn't be bad if you could keep the value increase of players on your roster if you want to switch players.

I think I got in on Jamel Charles at the right time. I think I got in on the Fins defense at the right time. Brady/Rodgers I am not worried about. Foster and Gronk I am not worried about.

Julio Jones is killing me. The WR position in general is killing me.

My report card at the 4 week mark..I had Ben Roethlisberger on a Bye week this week,to add in...

My feelings  are...
My best move so far...Yesterday dropping Mathew Stafford, adding Matt Ryan- I feel lucky I was able to do it,it might bite me in the ass later, good short term move...I wasn't sure how well Stafford would play last week, being injured the week before, and a Bye coming this week.

My worst, woulda, shoulda, coulda, wish I did make the move - When Forte got hurt (2 weeks ago now),I thought about dropping WR Julio Jones, and Adding WR A.J. Green..I had early in the week Forte,Calvin Johnson, and Julio Jones all with little red "Q"'s for Questionable.Replacing Forte was my bigger worry...

It seems to me that you should be able to "sell back" guys and keep the profits.  Is that not the case?

Like, if you buy Hartline in week one for 4 bucks, then he increases to $5.50 after week 4, you should be able to dump him and retain the $1.50 extra to use on someone else.

^^I like that Idea..There is the renegotiate button, where you get when they go down (you get them at the lower price)

Dave I think that's what most people are griping about.  You sell a guy and you lose his increase.

I should not have dropped Thomas for Jones at WR.

Sad day when your kicker is better than either of your receivers.

^^ Last week in my fantasy league, my kicker was better than both of my RB's combined.

Gutted my team for week 17,I can't see anyone catching the Az Polish the Bishop...He started the day with a100 point head start...My goal at the beginning of the season not to finsh last,or bottom 5.....I'd love to finish top 5,but happy with top 10...

I'll end up on the bottom for the playoff challenge...

It's safe to say I rode Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Arian Foster all season.....the rest I changed on more than one occasion. It was a fun season and I hope to dominate again next year!!!!!  ;)
