However, how many people stopped watching football or basketball during their recent lockouts? Granted the NFL fixed their crap prior to the season, but the NBA missed half the season. And I didn't see people walking away from that so fast... It's basically like leap year at this point.
I mean, people don't complain when they stop playing football in February (or basketball in June, or baseball in October) every year, right? So eventually, people will get used to the idea that every x years, the offseason is going to be just a little bit longer, and it will simply become part of the game. People got used to the idea of losing their favorite players when free agency was introduced; I'm sure the idea of losing Mickey Mantle to free agency would have been just as shocking to baseball fans in the '50s.
