Title: Mike Westhoff doesn't like playing the Dolphins in New York Post by: Spider-Dan on October 28, 2012, 06:10:47 pm 2009: The Ginn Family drops two 100+ yard kick return TDs on his unit. Jets lose.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnpiU91e65M (http://viperbeam.com/forum/westhoff.jpg) 2010: During punt return, Jets' assistant coach trips Dolphin Nolan Carroll. During the investigation, Westhoff accuses Patriots of also using illegal "wall" tactics. Jets are fined $100,000 (http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5971612&campaign=rss&source=twitter&ex_cid=Twitter_espn_5971612), with the NFL specifically mentioning Westhoff's comments as a violation of league rules. Oh, and Jets lose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jzpssk-iXU 2012: Westhoff's unit allows an onside kick recovery by the Dolphins, as well as a blocked punt (returned for TD) and blocked FG, all on obviously blown blocking assignments. Jets left holding another L to their chests. Total dispair. That's gotta burn, Bob.
Title: Re: Mike Westhoff doesn't like playing the Dolphins in New York Post by: Fins4ever on October 30, 2012, 12:17:55 pm Westhoff is retiring at the end of the year and I am just giddy that his last memory of playing Miami will be a nightmare where his ST's fell apart.
Title: Re: Mike Westhoff doesn't like playing the Dolphins in New York Post by: CF DolFan on October 30, 2012, 03:57:42 pm Westhoff is a very good coach. He is also very good friends with many former Dolphins like
Joe Rose and Dan Marino. I'm glad we kicked his butt but I will also be glad to see him retire as he has been a thorn in our side for a while too. Title: Re: Mike Westhoff doesn't like playing the Dolphins in New York Post by: Jim Gray on October 30, 2012, 05:51:16 pm Despite how he was treated by Dave W. and the Dolphins, I don't think Westhoff has held a grudge. No doubt he has enjoyed beating Miami since joining NY, and who can blame him. I think he even hung around the Dolphins camp a few years ago when he took some time off for treatment on his leg.
This was a terrible game for his special teams unit, but it doesn't undo his legacy as one of the top coaches in the NFL. Like CF, I'm glad he won't be there to help NY anymore, and I wish him the best in his retirement. Maybe he can do some consulting for the Dolphins. Title: Re: Mike Westhoff doesn't like playing the Dolphins in New York Post by: MikeO on October 30, 2012, 06:04:43 pm Westoff is no saint and got his payback on Miami already. Westoff QUIT the Jets after the 2007 season. When Parcells came to Miami in 2008 Parcells let Westoff come in during training camp as a "special assistant"/"consultant" to help out but not be an actual coach. Parcells had the belief after talking to Westoff that Westoff was done coaching and had retired, then out of the blue in Sep of 2008 just before the start of the season Westoff takes the Jets job he had just quit a few months prior. The Jets welcomed him back with open arms and moved around some coaches. After Westoff had been in every Miami meeting throughout training camp and knew everything there was to know about the Dolphins inside and out.
So everyone STOP feeling sorry for Westoff. He is a jerk and has no class or morals! Miami firing him when Wanny came in is fair. Part of the deal of being a coach, it happens! What Westoff did in 2008 shows no class and is shaddy! Maybe he can do some consulting for the Dolphins. 0.0% chance of that happening. See my above post.^^^ Been there, done that! |
