Title: What Are The Jets Thinking?
Post by: Jim Gray on October 28, 2012, 08:40:53 pm
I was looking at the official Jets site to find the post game press conference so I could watch fat Rex cry about another divisional loss, and I found something that shocked me - there are a few videos from each week: Rex's post game, play of the game and ............Tebow highlights.........every week for 8 weeks.  Nothing for Sanchez or any other player, just Tebow.

This is the official site of the Jets, not some fan site.  What are thinking?  This is just ratcheting up the QB controversy, and at the same time pointing out just how little Tebow is doing for the Jets.

I wondered how they would find highlights this week, so I watched the video.  I was surprised to find the video is 3:25.   It's more than a stretch to call these "highlights". It's every play Tebow was on the field and some of him walking on the sidelines.  In the 3:25, he touches the ball once.

It's not Tebow's fault, but when he was brought into NY, I think it guaranteed that the Jets would be a train wreck.

WTF highlight could they possibly have for Tebow this week. He did nothing at all....lol!

Unless they show him in a pregame prayer or something.

Jim,

If you want to see highlights of Sanchez you will need to go to the site of the opponent. Just saw many Sanchez highlights on the Fins site. lol

This is further evidence of the preferential treatment which is infuriating to me.  Highlight reels of your backup QB from every game?  Wow.

No wonder Sanchez is playing like crap.  Its difficult to throw with that monkey on his back.

I guess this is Tebow's fault as well?

It's not Tebow's fault that the Jets official site have a special "Tebow Hightlights" video every week.  But you have to admit that it's pretty funny for your back up QB to be featured over your starting QB.  This isn't the "media" doing it, it's the Jets organization. I pointed this out just to show how messed up the Jets are.

I'm tired of hearing about Tebow, but I don't blame him for the relentless media hype and the resulting overexposure. I do think that Tebow could help his cause if he would step out of the spotlight.  After every game, he gives interviews to the press and  I've seen him formally addressing the press after some of the games (maybe the does after all of them).  He has some control over these things.  He doesn't have to be the story all the time, he could just be quiet for once.

I never said it was his FAULT.  You said that, not me.  I just find it utterly disturbing how the entire universe is so enamored with this guy.

I agree with Jim 100%.  When the Jets beat the Colts on the back of Shonn Greene running for over 200 yards, why do they show Tebow highlights and have Tebow press conferences.  Should he maybe step away from the lights for a minute and let Greene be the one celebrated?

Tebow highlights.  Even Gators fans I know are starting to get annoyed by Tebow.

I said that just to pick at you. I wasn't insinuating you said that.

Tebow is marketing himself just like most everyone in the league does. The odd thing for him is that since he is so popular, the team and the league does as well.

I know Tebow. He went to UF the same years as my son. Tim used to go to the local Beef O Brady's in Gainesville where my kid worked as a manager. He really does not like all the attention and he is genuinely a super nice guy.

The only thing that "he personally" has done to exploit his fame to my knowledge was write a book "Through My Eyes". Even then all the profits went to his charity.

His popularity is hard to explain. My theory is it is because of his squeaky clean reputation in a sport that has many....uh, undesirables. lol

I believe Tebow is a nice guy, but I'm not buying the "he really does not like all the attention".  That's BS.  He loves the attention, or he wouldn't be on the cover of so many magazines, in commercials, giving formal press conferences, speaking to the press in the locker room.  If there's a camera and microphone in NY, Tebow can't be too far away.

You can be a nice guy and an attention whore........just saying.

When I think of attention whores I think of people who do stupid crap to get attention like Kim Kardashian having her butt X-rayed to prove it is real or Paris Hilton doing something stupid.

Tebow's 15 minutes seemed to start with his on one knee pose. The media really fed off of it.
