Has there ever been a player on this team that you didn't like...that you didn't want to cheer for?  Who and why?

ricky williams. 

Lawrence Phillips.  A bad player and a bad citizen.  I'm glad his stay in Miami was shortlived

I used to have a bug up my ass over Mark Royals.  He's the only guy I can remember actively booing.

Joey Porter, by a landslide.

He's the epitome of everything I dislike about an NFL player.  The only worse thing I could imagine would be the Dolphins signing Bart Scott.

funny thing is, bart scott seems like a nice guy.  joey porter is a real life scumbag thug.

Jay Fiedler. Nothing personally against him but it killed me that we never tried to improve the position while he was here. We had a good team and a freak at running back but couldn't get 9 people out of the box to save our lives. Oddly... I think these years were more frustrating to me than the losing seasons that have followed.

Derrious Thompson - A little unfair,but I was a Gadsden fan,and he was supposed to be a faster Gadsden ....
Ted Ginn - Was not a fan,we needed a WR,not a KR....


I'm not sure if these fit,but I liked them and then soured on them to the point I hated cheering for them...

Sam Madison - I liked him early on,then got the big contract,and sucked...I went from I like you to you suck...

There are quite a few guys who were busts as tackles but ended up switching to guard and played fairly well.  He is one.  Robert Gallery is another

Tannehill, because a #8 overall pick was wasted on a player who is not very good, not the answer at QB, and there were far too many other holes to fill when he was taken.

Btw, anyone else find it odd/ironic/telling that after RT left A&M a freshman QB there with much if the same talent on the field and same system looked light years ahead of Tannehill there, and won the Heisman against a tougher SEC schedule? -EK

I would not have voted him for the Heisman.  He won against some really soft teams.  The three top tier teams he faced, he only had a good game against one of them (Alabama).  The other two (Florida, LSU) totally shut him down.

Florida shut him down for a half. He ruled them the first half of the game. The Gators coaching staff gets the credit there.

Hated is a pretty strong word for me, but I'd have to go with Ted Ginn. Like B said, wasn't much of a fan, regardless of his kick retunring "skills".

Runner up: Chad "noodle arm" Pennington. It was tough cheering for the guy as he threw those reeeaallly ugly accurate passes. But hey, when you're throwing it 10 yds down field a million times a game... Don't get me wrong, loved the fact that we ended the regular season on a high note, but deep down I knew his obvious limitations weren't getting us anyhere in the playoffs.

I am kinda surprised by this.

As a Pats fan. I find nothing more rewarding than watching Woodhead make a big play against the Jets with Welker having a big play against the Dolphins being number 2. 

I think the biggest highlight of an otherwise dissmal Dolphin decade would be a QB picked up off the Jets garbage heap having a better game and leading the Dolphins to win and division champonship over Brett Favre and the Jets week 17 of 2008.

I didn't like Pennington because he's a lousy, stinkin' Jet.  I imagine Jet fans felt the same about signing JT.

I hated Joey Porter...easy choice for me.

As long as the bold part holds true.  Sure.  I can't see Eric returning to the Pats, but I wouldn't mind Rex being the DC.

This was mine too.....I hated him as a Jet and wasn't too fond of him as a Dolphin either. He lead us to the playoffs and that was fine and all but it was hard for me to mutter the words Good Job Chad at any point.

omfg I forgot about Ray Lucas.  The man who threw two games against the Bills.

Without a doubt, Thurman Thomas.

Huh??  What did he do as a Dolphin that gets you worked up?  He only played for half a season.  He played his role well.  Then he got hurt.  Didn't do any damage to the Dolphins AS A DOLPHIN.

Most former AFC East rivals I had no problem with. For example, I enjoyed cheering for Chad Pennington. But Thurman was a Bill that used to destroy us. I hated him them and I guess my hatred never subsided. I can't understand the views against Ricky Williams. Especially before he "retired". After, I can understand.

I actually liked Thurman even though he killed us. I thought wow ... why can't we have a guy like that? When he came to play for us I was NOT excited at all. I don't really like the whole go play for your rivals thing. 

I want to modify my answer to Ricky Williams.

I hate him so much, and it was hard to be happy when he was helping the team win.  I will never forgive you, Ricky.

I love Cobbs.  What's not to like?  The guy was a great utility player.

Joey Porter for reasons articulated before. 

HM to Eric Greene, the house-sized TE Miami grabbed to replace Keith Jackson after Jackson played part of the previous season with a bad hammy.  Greene got paid and got fat...ter.  By the end of the season there was serious consideration to moving the guy to the O-line as I remember.  Jackson went on to play for Green Bay and had some good games with them.

I hated that tub 'o lard (Greene, not Jackson).

Surprised no one has mentioned Tony Martin.  He sucked when he first was here.  Went to San Diego and Atlanta and kicked ass, then sucked again when he came back.

Gus FRerorte or however you spell it.  I have no Ricky Williams hate and the league should let players smoke weed, it;s not cheating and might help them.

Nobody came to mind at first.  Then I saw Spider-Dan mention Joey Porter and I was like, "Oh yeah, THAT guy."   Joey Porter was a douche.

He was the Steeler's douche......we just got him as a mercenary.   He's the only Dolphin I never cheered for.

I also want to know why DZA hated Cobbs.  He was my favorite player for a couple of years.  He played hard and in several of our wins (where there weren't many), he made critical plays on 3rd down.  I was on the field in a game a few years ago against Seattle and he played great.  After the game in the tunnel back to the locker room, he gave me a big smile and his sweaty gloves.
