Wanted to start a general NFL Draft prospect thread, just to keep up with the college all star games, pro days, draft combine and all the other goodies that will help shape the 2013 NFL Draft in April. As individual schools announce their Pro Days, I'll add full schedules below. Likewise, there are a couple more all star games that simply haven't been scheduled yet. I'll add those if they run this year.

I will be at the Senior Bowl.  I go every year.  It is an annual tradition that me and a small group of friends hop in my boat, sail to Mobile where we have another local friend pick us up.  We get hotel rooms for the night then go to the game the next day. 

^ no kidding!!  I am planning to get with my cousin and a couple old friends to go to the senior bowl this year.  Always wanted to go...  We should tailgate!  Did you guy get a hotel in the area?  Where?

How long does it take you to sail from the Keys to Mobile?  Where do you keep your boat while at the game?

I'm in Panama City.  I only am in the Keys on school breaks.  I dock at the Dog River Marina in Mobile

I thought you said you stored your boat in the keys?  Anyway, what about tailgating?  Where are your seats?  We got seats in Section F - pretty sweet.  But near the top.  PM me your phone number so we can set something up, if you're willing!  should be fun.

Nope.  I sail down to the Keys and back.  My boat is stored at a marina in PC but I can dock it right next to my house in the Keys because it has a private dock.

Why do you keep avoiding my question about tailgating? We've done it plenty of times, I've tailgated with several current and former members of tdmmc. I'm not going to fly to Alabama to murder you. PM me your info...  Where are your seats?

I can vouch for Brian, you don't have to worry about him being a nut case.  The TDMMC crew has tailgated at many games and it's nice to be able to put a face to a name.  I wish I could be there as well.

Random insertion because it makes me smile... For the first time in the mock draft season<g>, someone (Charlie at walterfootball.com) has matched up the 49ers with the player I REALLY want the 49ers to draft... DE Margus Hunt, from SMU. I've seen two SMU games this year, one early on plus their bowl game, and both times, I've come away thinking "man, that dude is going to be a monster when he gets to the NFL." My biggest worry is that once teams start looking at him more closely, he is going to rocket up the draft boards and SF won't get a shot at him.

Draft gurus..... What do you guys think of Ray Ray Armstrong? Big, strong, fast kid out of the U that hasnt played in almost a year and a half.  Outside of being a scapegoat for the Nevin Shapiro debacle,  he can play.

I'm totally biased but I will say that Brian is pretty cool to hang with :D His cousin isn't so bad either

I don't know much about him, to be honest. I don't see a lot of info online about his draft preparation, whether he will perform at Miami's Pro Day, that sort of thing.

If anyone is looking for blog reports on scouting prospects at the East-West Shrine Game, there are a number of sources out there. Walter Football has it organized nicely, with practice reports as well as which prospects met with which teams for interviews, that sort of thing. Optimus Scouting tends to have "fairly" unbiased practice reports, if a little bland.

Just a heads-up... The first two prospect showcase bowls are on TV this afternoon.

I'm going to be torn between watching those two plus all the opening day hockey action, but I've got plenty of munchies and a cold nearly-full 12 pack of Killian's in the fridge.

NFL Combine on-field activities start Saturday morning at 9 AM ET on the NFL Network...

The WRs have looked really good today...and as a group, might be the fastest WR class I've ever seen. Two WRs, Tavon Austin (who I really love) and Marquise Goodwin both challenged Chris Johnson's record 4.24 time in the .40.

Man these kids can fly!!!  And 2 of them are gigantic.  Marcus Davis and Chris Harper look like they can be that big and physical type as well as speedy.

Austin and Goodwin are tiny world class sprinters, and Patterson is simply a freak of nature.  This draft class might not turn out to be as bad as people originally made it out to be.  To quote MikeO when the Dolphins drafted Clyde Gates:

I think I have been saying this since the college season ended. You guys are late to the party.

^^Defensive front 7 this is one of the better drafts in a long time. Skill position wise this draft sucks.

If the best D-lineman in the country was eligible, I would totally agree. But since there is no RG3 or Luck this year, its too easy to say that the skill positions suck this year. We won't know fir a few years how this turns out.

I think people either misinterpreted the talking heads, or just selectively listened. This draft class, as the devil noted, doesn't have a Luck/RGIII/Jadeveon Clowney/Calvin Johnson/Adrian Peterson type of superduperstar at the top, but there are a number of positions where there is quite a bit of depth, and quality depth. Could some of those "not quite superduperstars" turn into superstars? Sure, the odds say that at least a couple of players in this draft class will turn into stars, and a larger number will become solid NFL starters. The D-line class is insanely deep, and a team can get a starting caliber player in the 2nd/3rd rounds. Same with WR...no Calvins, but lots of very good receivers. I love the top end of the CB class, and see not only Dee Milliner becoming a star player, but Desmond Trufant, Xavier Rhodes and a few others as well. I think the duo of first round OGs, Chance Warmack and Jonathan Cooper, will both be pro bowl caliber O-linemen.

QBs and RBs appear light, no argument, but if you're looking for all of the other positions, there should be plenty of opportunities to draft quality players this year.
