Title: Military jet flyovers a thing of the past
Post by: Landshark on March 01, 2013, 08:14:14 am
I'm saddened by this.  This was an American tradition at a lot of sporting events.

A friend of mine said there was no flyover at Daytona last weekend. I guess this was the reason why.

Flyovers are cool and all, but probably not the best use of taxpayer money.

As a form of protest, every fan in the upper decks should launch a paper airplane over the rail during the national anthem...

Now, that would be awesome. Except for The Green Freaks outside protesting the lost lives of countless trees.

I wonder if they will cancel the one for the Preakness, which is held on Armed Forces Day??  I like the flyovers, but the paratroopers coming in are more entertaining.  Those guys are talented.

I don't see using our tax dollars for entertainment purposes as a good idea.

But if the event organizers are willing to pay for the fuel and other costs....

They won't freak if the fans use recycled paper.
