Title: A March Challenge Post by: Dave Gray on March 01, 2013, 03:03:32 pm Now that Frugal February is over, I and some friends at my office are doing a new challenge for March.
The idea is to rid your life excess. There are not set rules, because how your life is set up will dictate the things you will need to do. Essentially, you should go through each area of your life that is collecting "clutter" and pare it down. I've already started. For me, it includes: - Going through my wardrobe and getting rid of old, out of style, non-fitting, or redundant clothes, shoes, etc. - Going through my office and getting rid of generic electronic parts that I'm never going to use. - Getting rid of old paperwork, manuals, files, etc -- that have no value and even if I needed them I wouldn't know where to look. - Donating books I'm never going to read or look at - Getting rid of baby clothes and toys that are no longer age-appropriate. - Clearing out my car compartments - Eating food that I already have, instead of buying new food to put on top of it. I rarely eat my canned or frozen food or look in the back of the fridge to see what's actually there. I've been in my place  6 years and it needs a good clean out/declutter. Plus I don't want to take all my ugly stuff to my cute new place.

I want to buy a house, and the thought of moving all that stuff is scary. Title: Re: A March Challenge Post by: Buddhagirl on March 01, 2013, 05:01:28 pm YES! I want to buy a house, and the thought of moving all that stuff is scary. Same... What I'm more amazed by is how much shit I have crammed into a 1/1 with 2 tiny old school closets and no storage. My place can't be more than 600 sq. feet. (That's being super generous.) No wonder I have a hard time keeping the clutter at bay. Half of that stuff just needs to go! I'm being ruthless and donating a lot of stuff. You never really know how much junk and clutter you have until you move. |
