Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: MikeO on March 13, 2013, 02:29:27 pm How much? no word yet. should be out soon though Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: MikeO on March 13, 2013, 02:46:19 pm report out now that Jake hasn't signed yet, it was a false report.
Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: Dave Gray on March 13, 2013, 03:10:43 pm I'm glad this isn't official. I'm still holding out hope on Jake. I know I'm in the minority, but he's a player that I think is worth the risk if you can get a hometown pricetag.
Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: Brian Fein on March 13, 2013, 03:12:18 pm ^^ I agree with Dave. That's why I was curious. If he signed with St. Louis without visiting another team, they must have dumped $11 million on his front porch.
I didn't find the story on any national sites, only Sun Sentinel. Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: AZ Fins Fan 55 on March 13, 2013, 03:13:06 pm ^^^^
Agreed....I know most don't care if he is gone but if we can get him at the right price I would love to keep him. I just hope Miami gets a chance to see what he is signing for and an opportunity to match if it is reasonable. Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: CF DolFan on March 13, 2013, 03:34:14 pm ^^^^ I consider him one of us since we drafted him. I actually would be more inclined to match any reasonable offer he was to get just for that fact alone. I know I'm in the minority, but he's a player that I think is worth the risk if you can get a hometown pricetag. The thing is that there is absolutely no reason to believe that Long is wanting to give Miami a hometown pricetag. He still believes that he's an elite LT when he's healthy and who knows maybe he's right. A healthy elite LT is easily worth 11 million. Easily. The problem is that Miami either doesn't think he's still an elite LT when he's healthy or they don't think he'll be able to stay healthy.Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: Sunstroke on March 13, 2013, 04:13:45 pm I think Miami should offer him a "reasonable contract" at around $9 million per year, with bonuses for high end performance markers like pro bowls, all-pros, etc... You could even give him early buy-out options so if he thinks he's proven enough, post-injuries, to be the top-paid LT, he can go out and try to get it. Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: Fau Teixeira on March 13, 2013, 04:27:37 pm They should offer him a really low contract with huge incentives and give him his walking papers if he sucks

LOL That's what Jake is trying to avoid and why he is in St.Louis! Title: Re: Jake Long signs with Rams Post by: Phishfan on March 13, 2013, 05:06:26 pm ^^^ It was a bust on Tommy
