Ok this is really not big news. The big news to me is that she actually apologized the very next day and it seemed legit. Ok ... maybe she is a good actress but I was pleased to see a celebrity who didn't come off as an ass. Kudos to her for admitting she was wrong rather than blaming everyone else.

Having had time to sober up, Witherspoon apologized profusely in a statement for her behavior.

"But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

 

The biggest news in this whole story is that her husband drives a Ford Focus. I want a press release explaining that.

I would lay money on a different theory. They were pulled over in Atlanta while Reese is there filming a movie. I would dare say the car is a rental (not theirs) and may even be supplied by the studio (I really don't know how these things work out). Also the Focus has an electric option which is becoming popular in Hollywood circles.

This is probably right, but it still made me laugh.
