Good morning everyone.

Looking forward to tonite's draft.  Excited and nervous at the same time.  I think MIA has done a great job this past off-season, great signing with Mike Wallace (extend the vertical passing game), Wheeler & Ellerbe (coming off their best seasons as pros) stepping in at the LB position and making MIA younger on DEF.

Additional players such as Grimes (could pay off huge if he returns to form), Gibson and Keller help with the team with experience.

I still love reading the media's reaction to some of MIA's signings and knocking us.  I just don't get it.  It's damn if you do and damn if you don't with these people.

I believe MIA is one of the younger teams in the NFL, spent their money pretty wisely (Wallace was a little too much IMO, but the market demanded that) and have a solid DEF team, while upgrading their OFF.

MIA will get the Tackle position straightened out, I'm confident of that.

The LT question is still standing, center stage... Will an Albert deal get done? Will Miami trade up for one of the big-3? Stay put and hope for Fluker? Have their eye on someone likely to make it to round two (Armstead, etc...)? It's an important position, especially with a young franchise QB to protect.  Once that question gets answered, the rest of the need positions should fall like dominoes.

I think Miami wants to put KC in the position of having drafted a LT while still having Albert on their roster thinking that will "encourage" them to lower their trade demand. Miami could still wait till after tonight's first round to try to make the deal for Albert if they don't end up picking a LT in the draft.

Let's have fun tonight. I'm hoping for Trufant to be our pick @ #12. But its Ireland's call. Lets all hope the players selected or traded for are the pieces we need to bring a ring to Miami.

As a Niners fan, I'm wishing for a trade up to get Sheldon Richardson, Kenny Vaccaro or Tavon Austin. Otherwise, draft value at a couple of reserve spots and trade draft assets from this year for "next round up" value in next year's draft.

He was the #1 player on almost every teams board (just not KC's)....not surprising in the least

I thought Fisher-Joeckel would go 1-2 as well...I just wasn't 100% positive on the order.

Traded the #12 and #42 pick, so KC has no choice but to take out late 2nd rounder if they want to trade with us.

Not just Gruden, Prisco over at CBS bagged it and said it reeked of panic, and Rob Rang's assessment of Jordan wasn't exactly glowing either.

Just have to hope they're wrong and Ireland has got this flyer right (for once).

And the NFL Network guys loved the pick. So, time will tell

NFC West just got tougher... Austin is a TD machine.

But I don't like him on that team in that spot. Austin needs to be on a team with a legit #1. Put him next to Wallace. Next to a Fitzgerald. Even in NY with Holmes. Even in Buffalo with a Stevie Johnson. In St.Louis he might get all the attention and I don't know if he will flourish in that type of atmosphere.

Yeah, but they lost Amendola and Gibson before that. He won't turn the Rams into contenders.

Jets got my favorite corner and favorite D-lineman of this class at #9/#13 with Milliner and Richardson.  Damn, I hate to see the Jets get good players.

But they lose Revis, so unless Milner is a 1st ballot hall of fame player that is a downgrade. And there offense is still the WORST (yes worst) in the entire NFL! They have nobody who can make a play on offense.

Rex Ryan STILL running the Jets. Idzik is a puppet.

I thought Gruden just hated the dolphins, but it looks like he hates any AFCE team that isn't the pats.  He's scratching his head on the DT the jets took.  Never thought much of Gruden anyways.

Prisco not impressed over at CBS either. That said, the Jets have to rebuild just about everything from scratch after the turmoils of this off season, not just offense. To me it does make some sense that they're picking up the top defensive players on their board, it's Ryan's specialty and they have holes everywhere. The good news is we won't have to worry about putting up a stack points against them to be a chance of winning next season. :D

49ers trade up to get Eric Reid... That's been the safety they were targeting all along, so I guess they moved up because they didn't think he'd make it to #31. I love the pick...but wish we didn't have to trade up to get him.

It only cost us our #31 and #74 to get up to #18...I like the deal a little bit better already.

The Jets and Bills had a terrible Rd 1 in my opinion. The Jets have no offensive weapons at all and their only one is coming off major knee surgery. You have 2 high picks and you don't even address the offense And you didn't address it in the offseason either. Their o-line is god awful. They have no QB that is any good. No TE at all. Stephen Hill and Holmes as WR's.

Milner isn't Revis and the DT while maybe a nice player isn't what they needed. The Jets have 1-15 or 2-14 written all over them. But that big Chris Ivory trade might go down soon so look out!

Buffalo....don't get it. They probably could have had EJ in Round 2!! Hey whatever. Good luck Marrone. Rent don't buy in Buffalo, got a feeling your stay there won't be long.

Adam Schefer knows his shit. I've always respected his opinions.  So far, almost everyone one of his "guesses" have been right. 

Jets should've traded down and gotten more picks. Their defense was already pretty good, so this does nothing for them. Good news for us.

I'm shocked that EJ Manuel went at 16 and Geno Smith was left sitting in the green room pondering what the hell happened. 

Their run defense was terrible last year. The DT pick was fine. The CB pick was stupid even though the kid is a pretty good player. They already have Cromartie (all jokes aside played great last year) and Kyle Wilson who they used a 1st rounder on. Now they invest ANOTHER high round pick on a CB.  Is Dave Wannstedt in their draft room?

Geno Smith is overrated. Watch his highlights, majority of passes go 3 yards (dinks and dunks) and the WV wide receivers did the all the work and made big plays. 2 yard pass, 77 yards of running....Geno gets the big stats. It was smoke and mirrors with him. And the 3 times he faced an NFL coach and coaching staff in his life ( the 3 games vs Syracuse) he looked foolish and got the crap kicked out of them and lost all 3 games!

Well he is staying in NY now it was just announced. Someone talked him into staying. But the damage is already done, he wanted to leave and needed to be convinced to stay

A bit of history here.

Last time no running backs were taken in the first round was 1963.  That's 50 years ago folks.

Last time two offensive linemen were drafted 1st and 2nd overall was 1968.  That's 45 years ago.

Strangely enough, that was the year that I took the ball in the backfield of my mom's womb, made one cut, found the hole and got into the open field...


Strangely enough this was the year I first laid a pancake block on my little brother. Unfortunately, I was flagged for holding, got a 10-yard penalty and a spanking...

Holy crap, the Cowboys just got raped on that trade.  Grats to the 9ers for working over Jerry Jones.  As a GM he looks worse and worse every year.

It's actually not a total rape, depending on which draft trade value chart is being used. I'd give the 49ers a slight edge in value. What's important is that Harbaugh-Baalke got the guy they really wanted to fill one of the few real "needs" the team has.  This pick does nothing but help SF in the quest for Super Bowl #6. I'm pumped to see him out there with Donte Whitner and the rest of our D when the season starts.

I am fairly certain that the 49ers next couple of picks will be directed at D-line and O-line talent...

With there last trade SF now as 4 (yes 4) 3rd round picks next year! WOW!

And one of them, the conditional from KC for Alex, could conceivably be a 2nd rounder.

I like this trade...getting extra "quality" picks (rds 1-3) for next year was something I was hoping for in this draft.

Niners just grabbed Tank Carradine

Yep...figured it would either be Tank or Jesse Williams. Given the depth at DT, and the few teams who really need a one gap NT, I'm not surprised they'd go DE/OLB with Tank here, and count on one of the top-3 DT's remaining, Johnathan Jenkins or Jesse Williams or Brandon Williams, to slide to the end of the round.

Good pick by SF, imo...all is going well so far in this draft.
