Ha. 150K fine. Peanuts. SWA doesn't even blink unless it's a 5 million dollar fine. Frankly, this is beneath the FAA.  ;D

Just in case anyone thinks that Southwest doesn't take customer satisfaction seriously (we do, I was just trying to be funny).

Southwest named top site for overall customer experience among airlines and OTA's (http://markets.financialcontent.com/stocks/news/read/23962329/Southwest_Named_Top_Site_for_Overall_Customer_Experience_Among_Airlines_and_OTAs)

Everyone who works for Southwest is quite proud of our customer experience and is probably the reason the fine is so small. Since the FAA and SWA came to the fine jointly I wouldn't be surprised if SWA pretty much came up with the fine itself as most of the money goes to the customers that didn't receive proper treatment. Most likely it was Southwest that informed the FAA of the issue in the first place and had already come up with their "solution" to fix the problem which included the fine and the refunds. This was most likely a self-inflicted fine. The FAA does police over the airlines, but in reality there's FAR too much going on behind the scenes for the FAA to know about these types of mistakes, however the airlines themselves report them to the FAA (as they are required) when they find out about them and they jointly agree to a course of action to get the issue corrected because if the FAA actually finds a problem with an airline that they haven't reported themself, the fine will be MUCH MUCH MUCH larger.

And now you know the rest of the story.  ;D

^^^^ that survey is just how happy with the southwest website, not the actual flight.

BTW I like southwest.  I just figured I would bust you.

Well that is where the error occurred, so I thought it the most relevant, but I knew you were just busting my chops and my original answer was just my own comeback and then I thought someone might take my response literally and thought I should post something a little closer to my actual feeling about Southwest Airlines just in case.

By the way, I'm not an employee of Southwest Airlines, I'm a contractor with them, but they make contractors feel like employees as best they can. :)
