Title: What's the most you've paid to see a concert? and who was it?
Post by: bsfins on May 28, 2013, 07:28:19 pm
Yeah,um...Like the title says..I was having a discussion with a couple of people about concerts, with Summer on.We were going back and forth about...I like them, but not $60 worth type of back and forth...

So I thought I'd ask...
What's the most you've paid to see a concert? and who was it?

No judgements just curious...

$135 for Black Sabbath tickets with seating down low. This includes VIP parking which makes leaving the Gorge very quick and easy as compared to the GA parking.
Also just paid $85 apiece for tickets in box seating, center stage for Mayhemfest.

I paid $150 for 2 tickets to go see Tenacious D at Red Rocks in Colorado last summer.  Easily spent another $50 in merch/beer at the show.

I payed just because I'd never seen a show at the legendary venue, and why not it feature JB and KG.?!

I have heard Red Rocks is awesome.

The experience was great.  It was beautiful visually and aurally.

I've seen better shows, but the total package experience was quite good.  I wonder if the experience holds up on multiple viewings in the arena.

I know we paid around $125 each for Madonna at Airlines Arena. I know seeing Kanye years ago was a lot since we were on the floor. I think he played the Jackie Gleason. (I really don't remember and was mainly there for Common.)

Personally, I feel like I've paid around $75 to see Metallica in the front row with J-Tex in the Citrus Bowl. (and Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, and Mudvayne - Summer Sanitarium 2003)

Recently I bought a pair of pavilion seats as a gift for someone else to see Jimmy Buffett for $125 a piece and sold them on StubHub for $190 each.  That's crazy talk.

I typically don't pay all that much for a single band. I was going to buy $100 Eagles tickets when they first reunited but my friends and I partied way too much and overslept so they sold out before we got to Ticketmaster. I have seen several daylong (would you call it a mini festival) shows where I paid $100 or more.

Phish, I've likely paid more than $100 for festival style stuff, but I did not count those.

Also, if/when Prince goes on tour I will be giving him all of my money.

I paid $150 back in 1987 for a ticket to see Pink Floyd on their A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, in Austin Texas.

I paid $110/each for Jimmy Buffet @MGM in Las Vegas, the GF wanted to see him.  Was actually a pretty good show.  I'd really like to go see the Stones this year, but they are quite pricey.

I think I paid $150-180 to see Paul McCartney

Did they give you a $30 rebate for forcing you to listen to Linda as well?  ;D

Back in my college days I was working my Summer job and one of my friends was taking off for the weekend to see Floyd at the old RFK. I was so jealous that I wasn't going it was the talk all day. When he came back to work I naturally asked about the show. The guy never ended out going. He absolutely hated his girlfriend's best friend and got into a big fight about making her ride in a different car on the trip. Naturally my next question was what he did with the tickets. He didn't sell them. He didn't call his good friend Phish. He didn't give them to anyone else. He just sat on them and didn't go. That was more disappointing than not having plans to go originally.

^^^ And how much jail time did you serve for strangling that guy to death?

I've seen Pink Floyd twice, Roger Waters twice and David Gilmour once. I've been pretty fanatical about Pink Floyd since I was just a wee rocker. The only band (and solo members) that I've seen more than Floyd is Blue Oyster Cult (6 shows).  ;D

Your namesake (Phish) is at the top of my list of bands I've never seen, but reeeeeally want to.

$75 for Ozzfest in 2001 at St. Pete. Don't remember how much parking was. All I know is don't go to an outdoor concert/festival, hungover, in Florida, in August. I think this was the show that told me that pit days were numbered. Still, one of the best days of my life.

$600 for 2 tickets to go see the Police's first reunion concert a few years ago.  Insane seats....so close to the stage.  Totally worth every penny.

^^^ The Police definitely put on a helluva concert...though I saw them a bit before they got into the $300/ticket range. Sting was pretty awesome on his own as well.

This is going to sound horrible, :-[ ...In my case (most of the time),It's been someone has backed out, someone won tickets,we knew someone that was working the concert, the tickets were usually given to me, or someone else paid for them. At times I've offerd to pay for the tickets, but ended up paying for the ride to get there,gas,etc,etc...

Part of the problem is I don't live in a big city, and most acts tend to go to Tulsa,Little Rock,Columbia,St. Louis,Kansas city. So $50 a ticket (low end),$50- $100 to drive to go see them,Typically a hotel,or motel to crash at..I've REALLY got to want to see that person...

There are few concerts I'd love to see...Kenny Chesney,Garth Brooks,Paul McCartney,U2,Sammy Kershaw,Toby Keith,the Who,Def Leppard,Bon Jovi,Heart....

Then there is that list, that maybe 10 years ago I'd loved to see,but now that I'm older (and they're up there TOO)I'd probably pass on now...  Kiss, the Orginal Black Sabbath line up,Ozzy by himself.

I'm too much of a pussy as I've gotten older to put up with the people at the concert, and don't think the show would be that great to put up with the idiots...

^^^^^ Lil B, I've had the privilege of seeing many acts in my day. I understand not wanting to put up with other's BS. Just stay away from general admission. You're paying to see your favorites perform your favorites. I was fortunate enough to see Pantera twice. If I backed out then, there would be no chance for a show today. R.I.P. Dimebag. Anyways, that's just my two cents. Having seen Ozzy alone & with Sabbath, I would go again.
