My dad took me to see it. Very strange movie for a 5 year old. I'm sure there were other movies before then, I just can't remember any of them. For some reason Kubrick's movie stuck in my brain.
Last movie that I went to see was Oblivion. Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: Dave Gray on June 03, 2013, 04:03:33 pm First Movie that I recall is 2001 - A Space Odyssey (1968). Damn. I have watched that movie several times as an adult and I still don't know what the hell is going on. Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: Phishfan on June 03, 2013, 04:11:08 pm Rocky was the first movie I saw in a theater. The Dark Knight may have been my last venture to one.
I pay for HBO, Show, Starz, etc. for their original programming so unless something is really special and peaks my interest I just usually wait for them to appear there (it helps me justify the cost in my mind). That said, I will be going to the new Superman movie. Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: CF DolFan on June 03, 2013, 04:34:48 pm The first movie I ever saw was at the Drive-In: It was either Easy Rider or Night of the Living Dead although out for several years already. I vaguely remember.
The first movie I ever saw in the theater was: probably Jaws in 1975. The last movie I ever saw was at the Drive-In: Oz the Great and Powerful / The Croods The last movie I ever saw in the theater: The Cabin in the Woods The last movie I saw at home on Netflix: The Paperboy The last movie I saw on Blu-Ray: Silver Linings Playbook Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: Thundergod on June 03, 2013, 05:01:53 pm First movie (theater) : Popeye (Robin Williams)
Last movie (theater) : Iron Man 3 Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: bsmooth on June 03, 2013, 05:20:53 pm First...Jaws in a drive in when it first came out
Last...Fast and Furious 6 Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: Pappy13 on June 03, 2013, 11:00:56 pm Damn. I have watched that movie several times as an adult and I still don't know what the hell is going on. It's not a movie you understand so much as a movie you experience. Remember that it was '68 and the whole space exploration thing was on everyone's mind. That plus the fact that special effects in movies was in it's infancy. Then there's the fact that Kubrick is probably nuts.I think my dad knew then though that I was a Sci-Fi junkie. I used to sit and watch Star Trek with him all the time and was just fascinated by it. Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: bsfins on June 03, 2013, 11:49:57 pm Please, excuse my stroll down memory lane....I miss drive ins...It was so much more about the experience of just going...
Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: Pappy13 on June 04, 2013, 01:01:05 am The last movie I saw at home on Netflix: The Paperboy Bet you wish you could have that hour and half back like I did.Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: CF DolFan on June 04, 2013, 07:47:26 am Please, excuse my stroll down memory lane....I miss drive ins...It was so much more about the experience of just going... We went on vacation over spring break to the Georgia mountains. It was a little town called Blue Ridge and is very close to where Tenn, Ga. and NC all come together. They had a little drive-in that I had to visit. It was kids' first time ever at a drive-in and the first time since the early 90's when our's was closed. Bet you wish you could have that hour and half back like I did. Yea ... was certainly glad I saw it on Netflix. It killed some time but useless otherwise with one exception. Nicole Kidman certainly knows how to play a sexy scene. Her rain dance in To Die For and the jail scene in this movie where she rocked John Cusack are two of the hottest "no actual sex scenes" ever filmed. You know what kind of confused me? Why did Zach Efron allow her to actually pee on his face? I read several articles about how they really did it and how great it was to not fake it but go all out and do it. It was a non factor IMO as was most of the dumb movie. They didn't show anything so they could have easily faked it. I'm guessing it would have been much easier on Mr. Efron although these days he may actually be into that. Just seemed to much for too little return unless it was for spreading the word. Title: Re: QOD:First and last - movie Post by: Pappy13 on June 04, 2013, 11:53:14 am You know what kind of confused me? Why did Zach Efron allow her to actually pee on his face? And just as confusing, why would Nicole Kidman do it? There were WAY too many scenes where I asked myself why did they do that? The whole movie just seemed to be for shock value and nothing else. I'm really kinda surprised that stars like McConaughey, Kidman, Cusack and Efron would do a movie like this. I remember when I ran across the movie thinking, "how come I've never heard of this?" and then after I watched it I was like "oh, that's why". Pure trash. |
