Title: Comic / Movie News Post by: VidKid on March 24, 2014, 10:42:34 am With Captain America around the corner, I thought I'd post a couple things from the weekend -
The final trailer for Spider-man was released. This one is out May 2nd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlM2CWNTQ84 Note: If i had to pick on someone nerdy (like Peter) I still lean towards Tobey... The 2nd trailer for X-men: Days of Future Past : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6acRHWnfZAE Note: Looks very big and dramatic. They supposedly cut scenes of Storm out of the final movie and yet, she appears in this trailer 3 times. Here's the cast of Cap talking trash about Superman/Batman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMXlaCwRTII Note: Not sure what i think of Batfleck. New movie annoucement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzVnNVrunAE Note: I really think Cicely should dress up and send in a video. I would pay to see that. :) Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Sunstroke on March 24, 2014, 11:44:29 am The New Spidey looks awesome. The new X-Men looks awesome. The new Jem and the Holograms? Wait, what? While I would pay to see Buddhababe dress up in anything from the Couture Provocateur collection, I'm afraid I never saw that Jem cartoon as a kid. Looks a little too much like a bad Barbie doll acid trip to me. Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Dave Gray on March 24, 2014, 12:22:18 pm I am incredibly skeptical of the new Spidey movie. The more I think about the first one, the less I like it. I do like the cast, but the villain and the story were very generic. This movie looks like they're cramming a whole lot into one thing and I just don't trust that they are going to give the villains the fleshed out stories they deserve.
I'm excited for Cap 2 because I hear it's very good and is a spy thriller. I love when comic book movies jump genres and are a legitimate entries in another genre, like The Dark Knight was a cop drama. But I don't like this Marvel V. DC thing that is coming to the forefront. I would much rather have a frenemies situation where the makers of the Marvel films are openly excited about Batman/Superman and vice-versa. I think a rising tide raises all boats. Also noteworthy is all of the TV coming out soon: Netflix's 4 shows and a miniseries for Daredevil, Luke Cage, etc. Gotham, the show depicting Gordon's rise through the ranks of the Gotham PD, pre-Batman. Arrow (which I've never seen, but hear is good) + the Flash. Could this stuff all tie in to the movies? Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Spider-Dan on March 24, 2014, 07:20:50 pm I'm surprised it has taken this long for Marvel vs. DC animus to surface... but I never thought it would be from the actors.
It is appropriate that it comes from Samuel L. Jackson, as he's the only actor that has a comic-book character actually based on him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Nick_Fury). Nick Fury existed long before Jackson was an actor. When they did the stupid Ultimates line-up, where they changed preexisting characters..significantly, did that version of Fury start to resemble Jackson. Jackson as Fury in the non Ultimate version of Marvel is the only thing I really hate about the movies. He does not belong in that universe. Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Spider-Dan on March 26, 2014, 04:00:25 pm It would have been helpful if you had read the article I linked in my post.
Ultimate Nick Fury (who is not the same character as the normal "Earth-616" Nick Fury) is directly based on Samuel L. Jackson. Ultimate Nick Fury is a comic-book character. What part of this is "bullshit"? Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Dave Gray on March 26, 2014, 04:12:30 pm I like the Jackson version of Fury. They resigned the character with Jackson in mind. I think he's done a good job at it.
Also, I'm not for changing super iconic characters, but these old groups from the old days have no diversity. You just can't have a mainstream product where a universe exists of all white people. Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Spider-Dan on March 26, 2014, 05:13:34 pm They are transitioning "normal" Nick Fury as well. Nick Fury, Jr. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Fury,_Jr.) is Nick Fury's secret son (from a black woman):
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b3/Marcus_Johnson_Nick_Fury_jr.png/250px-Marcus_Johnson_Nick_Fury_jr.png) At one point, they were entertaining a merger of the Ultimate (Earth-1610) Marvel universe with the normal (Earth-616) Marvel universe, at which point 616-Fury would be killed and 1610-Fury would take his place as the "official" one, but it looks like they are sidestepping that with this option. As a side note, the Amazing Spider-Man series is essentially Ultimate Spider-Man: The Movie. Consider: Spider-Man Electro: (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E4mUGv6VOWQ/UezewSR4-5I/AAAAAAAAArk/H_JRYNPhekg/s1600/spiderman_electro.jpg) Ultimate Spider-Man Electro: (http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110322150938/marveldatabase/images/3/35/Ultimate_Spider_Man_Vol_1_159_Maxwell_Dillon_%28Earth-1610%29.jpg) Amazing Spider-Man Electro: (http://stwww.geekexchange.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Electro-The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2-482x276.jpg) Spider-Man Rhino: (http://positivelynerdy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/The_Spectacular_Spider-Man_Vol_1_190-e1359869723105.jpg) Ultimate Spider-Man Rhino: (http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110313210620/villains/images/9/99/Ultimate_rhino.jpg) Amazing Spider-Man Rhino: (http://stwww.geekexchange.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Rhino-The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2-482x276.jpg) Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Buddhagirl on March 26, 2014, 08:12:12 pm The New Spidey looks awesome. That's the only thing in this round up that I'm excited about. Title: Re: Comic / Movie News Post by: Phishfan on March 27, 2014, 03:16:36 am I realized this thread is too nerdy (not a dig but I don't think that term is offensive) for me. Just give me something I can enjoy.
