Title: TDMMC March Madness - TRADITION - Lambeau Leap vs. National Anthem "O" Post by: Dave Gray on April 02, 2014, 05:04:33 pm When players score in Green Bay, they jump in the stands. We've all seen it. Started in 1993 by Leroy Butler, by the way.
Baltimore Oriole fans have been shouting "O" during "OH say does that star-spangled banner yet wave" at the singing of the Anthem. The practice is not well received by all and is even considered disrespectful by some sports writers and fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ppDHj4bnP08 Title: Re: TDMMC March Madness - TRADITION - Lambeau Leap vs. National Anthem "O" Post by: Phishfan on April 02, 2014, 05:29:30 pm I know a guy that is an Oriales fans and he did that at a different sporting event. He had no idea that was not the way the song went everywhere. I don't care for it myself.

The last game I watched between the Ravens and Steelers on Thanksgiving last year (the Mike Tomlin on the field game), there was a thunderous "O" during the national anthem.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qf3VLlq4X-Y (FF to 2:15) There's a group of women that seem to go to every Panthers' game, and I hear them from various spots in the arena during the anthem screaming out their "O"s. They are the only ones yelling. Title: Re: TDMMC March Madness - TRADITION - Lambeau Leap vs. National Anthem "O" Post by: Dave Gray on April 02, 2014, 05:36:25 pm I've never heard of the O thing.

But the point was that it isn't limited to the Orioles games, but any game in Baltimore.

I've never heard of the "O" thing, and I even went to an Orioles game at Camden. I guess I just wasn't paying too much attention during the national anthem. |
