Title: NFL Schedule Post by: MikeO on April 23, 2014, 07:00:26 pm The early leaks......
Week 1 Thursday Night GB @ Seattle Week 1 Sunday Night Colts @ Denver Week 3 MNF Bears @ Jets Thanksgiving night: Seattle @ SF Colts have 5 total Primetime games See how much of this is actually true. The only thing I think that could be up in the air is the Thanksgiving night game. Not sure if the NFL will have a team play 2 Thursday night games. We will see though Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: MikeO on April 23, 2014, 07:05:00 pm Thanksgiving Day Bears @ Lions.
Which means the NFL has changed their format on Thanksgiving where the Lions and Cowboys switch off every other year playing an AFC team. The Lions hosted an NFC team last year and are hosting an NFC team this year. So the NFL has switched their Thanksgiving "rules". NFL will let CBS air NFC vs NFC games too in flex scheduling (reverse for FOX)...so some think it will be an all NFC day on Thanksgiving Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: MikeO on April 23, 2014, 07:10:39 pm Every game on Thanksgiving will be between division rivals. No word on who Dallas is playing though
Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: el diablo on April 23, 2014, 08:47:07 pm How does both NY teams get 2 Monday night games? Wtf?
Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: MikeO on April 23, 2014, 08:58:43 pm How does both NY teams get 2 Monday night games? Wtf? Giants are good and have a big name QB. Jets are decent and have a loud-mouth coach. Monday Night Football isn't a big deal anymore. It's lesser games. Sunday Night games are the "BIG DEAL" Being on Monday Night football is nothing special. That package is a second tier package compared to the Sunday Night NBC package Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 27, 2014, 03:53:15 pm Giants aren't good. The real reason is that they are from NY which is a huge market. This is why the Knicks are still being talked about during the playoffs even though they are terrible and missed the playoffs.

Giants have won 2 Super Bowls in recent years, they are a good franchise and a team people want to see play Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: EDGECRUSHER on April 27, 2014, 08:18:02 pm Good franchise as a whole, but fortunes change quickly and they just came off of a terrible season when their QB was one of the worst in the league and is only getting older. It's mainly a NY market thing. Same with the Jets who haven't been close to contending in over 4 years now.

It's mainly a NY market thing. Same with the Jets who haven't been close to contending in over 4 years now. You do realize that EVERY NFL team must get 1 prime-time game a year. So the Giants getting 2 MNF games is no big deal Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on April 28, 2014, 10:44:09 am Also the Giants and Jets pose some unique scheduling challenges to the league, unless one of them is playing on Monday or Thursday they can't both have home games the same week, and even when one or both are the road they can't both play in the same time spot, having one of them on prime time gives the league a bit more flexibility.

Interesting. I never paid attention or knew they did not play at the same time. Just for giggles, I looked up the schedule. While they don't normally play in the same time spot, the league does in fact do it sometimes. Weeks 14 & 17 they both play at 1:00. Because they just hired a legendary coach who happened to play for them as a player to be their team president? That's worth talking about no matter what team it is Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on April 28, 2014, 12:01:10 pm Interesting. Hmm....That must be a change, I recall that when they need to move a Jets game and it resulted in them both playing at the same time it was big deal. Having both play at the same time, hurts TV revenue and causes problems for NYC bars etc. Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: Phishfan on April 28, 2014, 12:48:59 pm Having both play at the same time, ... causes problems for NYC bars etc. How do you figure? If people are going to go out to watch the game it doesn't make any difference if they are all out at the same time or if they go out at two different times. Title: Re: NFL Schedule Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on April 28, 2014, 12:54:35 pm How do you figure? The bar I went to had a policy of having the audio and largest screen be the Jets/Giants game with the "out of town games" on the TV screens but no audio. If both played at the same time there would likely be fight. |
