Title: New information in Penn state scandal
Post by: BuccaneerBrad on July 12, 2016, 11:31:25 pm
Some documents have been unsealed and they show that Paterno and a bunch of other coaches knew about Sandusky's actions all along.  Even as far back as the 70s.

I've always believed something was amiss when Paterno fired him in 1999 when he was still a young coach.  He was one of the best defensive coordinators in the country and nobody else hired him.  When the allegations first came to light in 2011, it made perfect sense.  I'm sure a lot of people knew and kept their mouths shut

Nothing shocking here.

I don't think the penalty for this was harsh enough.  I would've shut down the program for a while.  Gotta get priorities in order.  A school's main job is to educate and protect youth.  The fact that there was rape cover-up all the way up the ladder to protect football is gross.

When the official story is retirement (after 32 years in the profession), not too many jobs or people consider you young still and they don't come knocking.

He was 54 years old when he "retired".  That's young in the coaching profession.  Considering he once was the heir apparent to Paterno, most people speculated that he would get a head coaching job at another school and were surprised when he didn't

They should have terminated the football program completely from penn state. I said the same at the time. When a community puts football over the well being of children, they shouldn't get football.

^At least give them the death penalty for a decade or so.  Priorities are all whacked when it comes to sports, and it's sad.
