Title: Street Fighter V World Championships on ESPN2 today Post by: Spider-Dan on July 18, 2016, 12:01:48 am As a long-time Street Fighter tournament player, I never would have imagined that I would be watching it on ESPN (well, OK, ESPN2) as I am right now. It's an incredible day for the fighting game community.
I know that there will be a group of people who object to it, just as there were people who objected when ESPN started showing poker. But at a basic level, ESPN is about competition, and Street Fighter exemplifies that: this isn't people trading off to see who gets the better score, but instead one-on-one, head-to-head competition. It is the very essence of what is best about sports: outthinking and adapting to an opponent and imposing your will. Is/did anyone else here watch it?
