Title: One novel way to expand the season.
Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on September 04, 2017, 12:21:37 pm
I doubt this will ever happen, but I read somewhere (don't recall where) an interesting appproach.  Expand the number of games each team plays to 18, expand the 53 man roster, but limit the number of games each player is allowed to play in to 16 regular season.  Or possibly limit it to 32 halves or 64 quarters.

Would add an interesting dynamic to planning.  Do you rotate who sits or do you choose two games and rest all your starters during the same game? Do you use your kicker as a punter for two games or do you sign a guy for two weeks?

If you use the quarter/half approach which starters do you pull in a blowout?

This sounds like something a fantasy football player would invent.

It's a terrible idea.
