The company that built his plane, ICON, is based out of Vacaville, CA, less than a mile from where I work. In fact, my worksite is shown in one of their demo videos:

She goes on at length about how she didn't want him to buy this plane (described elsewhere as "a jetski with wings") but eventually gave in.
