President Trump just issued an emergency order grounding all 737 Max8 and Max9 aircraft.   Those that are in the air will be grounded once they reach their destinations

I'm sure they'd quit falling out of the sky if we just started using coal as airplane fuel...

Come to think of it they should switch over to nuclear powered planes, that would really cut down on air pollution and foreign energy dependence.  ::)

That's not what I read. Where did you see that? According to this article it was the FAA that issued the order.

In the internal update we got from Southwest it said they were complying with the order from the FAA.

I saw it in the Daily Mail. President Trump says he is grounding all flights on the Boeing Max 8 and Max 9 - 'effective immediately' - in an emergency order of prohibition  Even your link says it in the title. They were acting upon his order as the FAA said as late as yesterday no reason to ground them.

I am glad they included that.....

Here's the actual FAA order. It was issued after new information became available today that the recent crash aligned with the earlier crash. With the new information the FAA ordered the grounding of the aircraft. Trump announced the order, he did not issue the order. That comes from the FAA.

LOL ... I saw that in a few reports and thought the same thing. It made me wonder what the alternative was.

in all seriousness I think the options are allow the to land at scheduled airport or require them to land immediately at the nearest airport (what happened on 9.11)

They should fill them with helium.  Then they would never crash.   ;D    Hmm, although I guess they couldn't land either. 

Would be fun to hear the pilot on the overhead sounding like an elf.
