Title: NHL rules Post by: dolphins4life on May 19, 2019, 01:40:02 am I saw the ad with a walrus in goal, which is actually a take-off of another ad with a fat human in goal from many years ago.
I wonder, is it legal to do this in real life? Is it possible to find somebody fat enough to fill up the entire goal, and then just have them stand there? ? Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 19, 2019, 09:05:07 am http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/rules/2017-2018-NHL-rulebook.pdf
Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: Phishfan on May 22, 2019, 11:01:53 am I dare say it is physically impossible.

Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 22, 2019, 12:45:53 pm I dare say it is physically impossible. You mean nobody is 72 inches wide. The question was dumb. Also rule 9.4. Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: Pappy13 on May 22, 2019, 04:39:01 pm You mean nobody is 72 inches wide and able to stand on skates. Fixed that for you. >:DTitle: Re: NHL rules Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 22, 2019, 06:13:35 pm Fixed that for you. >:D Forget skates. I doubt even the fattest people to ever live were close to 6 feet wide. Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: Spider-Dan on May 22, 2019, 08:53:51 pm You mean nobody is 72 inches wide. The question was dumb. Also rule 9.4. Rule 9.4 addresses maximum jersey size for a goaltender, but it does not specify that a jersey may not have slits (or must otherwise fully encompass the goalie). So I believe you could make a goalie jersey resemble a poncho, provided the fabric itself is to league specifications.Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: Pappy13 on May 23, 2019, 11:19:25 am Forget skates. I doubt even the fattest people to ever live were close to 6 feet wide. With equipment on? I don't know. I seen some pretty fat people who couldn't get out of the bed they were in. Google fattest people in the world. Maybe they couldn't cover the full 72 inches, but it'd be pretty close.Title: Re: NHL rules Post by: MyGodWearsAHoodie on May 23, 2019, 12:11:26 pm Rule 9.4 addresses maximum jersey size for a goaltender, but it does not specify that a jersey may not have slits (or must otherwise fully encompass the goalie). So I believe you could make a goalie jersey resemble a poncho, provided the fabric itself is to league specifications. It does say, "Altered uniforms of any kind, i.e. Velcro inserts, over-sized jerseys, altered collars, etc., will not be permitted. Any player or goalkeeper not complying with this rule shall not be permitted to participate in the game. " 9.1 "No inserts or additions are to be added to the standard players’ jersey as produced by the manufacturer. (Modifications at the manufacturer are not allowed unless approved in advance by the League) No alteration of the neck opening is permitted. " 9.3 "No inserts or additions are to be added to the standard goalkeeper-cut jersey as produced by the manufacturer. Modifications at the manufacturer are not allowed unless approved in advance by the League. " 9.4 " All protective equipment, except gloves, headgear and goalkeepers’ leg guards must be worn under the uniform" 9.5 If the NHL allowed what you say....then you wouldn't need a "fat" person. You could just load someone up with massively over-sized padding, and have him plug the goal. The max shirt size prevents that. It would not be that hard for an athletic, fit person to stand in goal to wear enough padding to plug the goal. Certainly easier than getting an obese person to balance on skates. |
