Title: Hurricane Dorian
Post by: BuccaneerBrad on August 29, 2019, 02:53:55 pm
Everyone check in.   Where are you and what are you doing to stay safe?

I'm in Bradenton and I've already got my hurricane supplies ready and my plywood precut.   It's just a matter of putting it on the windows with pressure clips

It looks like I'm going to get a pretty good dose of it.  I hope it curves a little bit North.  This will be my first hurricane in my new house.  I'm nervous but also kind of excited.

Been so busy that I haven't been following it. How's it looking for Ocala? Guess I need to check in on my parents.

Good luck and take care to all of you in the path of the storm.

Looks like it will land south of us and then head north. Typically not good to be on the NE side but hopefully it will be a 1 or less by the time it gets to Central Florida.  Of course it's a few days way so things have plenty of time to change.

This is a weird storm.  Normally, you have a pretty decent idea of where it's headed.  But this cone of uncertainty has been so big that it's gone from the keys to Georgia.

And the storm is moving slowly, so each hurricane center update doesn't bring much clarity.

Assuming that the center of the model is the spot, I'm going to get pretty well hit.  I'm prepared, for the most part.  Hope I don't lose my house.

When's it supposed to hit Dave? Where you at Boca?

I live in West Palm Beach.   About 25 mins north of Boca.  It has shifted way north....may hit North Carolina or not at all. We’re set to get tropical storm winds late Monday into Tuesday.

Isn't really worth talking about these things until they are ready to make landfall. Nobody knows what it's doing until it gets to you. I've got a few beers in the fridge as preparation.

Pro Tip - Fill your washing machine with beer and ice, when the ice melts it will drain out easily.
