Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Tenshot13 on April 05, 2020, 10:03:21 am Watchmen is a lock. I went with Shazam for my second pick. I was expecting it to be a stinker and it was surprisingly good.
Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Dave Gray on April 05, 2020, 06:04:56 pm Watchmen kicks ass. Fight me.
Dredd also kicks ass. Fight me again. Watchmen is slightly gratuitous with it's sex stuff and a lot of the subtext is lost, but for a straight adaptation, it did it. The visual style is incredible. I do wish that they'd just gone all out and did the squid ending, though I understand why they didn't. It's a little bit of a shame that they made the switch to make it more of a swallowable pill for regular audiences, but then those same audiences didn't support the film. Dredd is the tits. I wish more people would watch that film. Huge balls to never take the guy's mask off. It's a really great super hero film done on a small budget and really shows you how to make a film about a mysterious character by not really making him the main character. Really cool. Watch it if you haven't. Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Spider-Dan on April 06, 2020, 02:54:26 am Shazam! and Watchmen.
My review for Shazam (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFmACwD7RoE) pretty much says it all. The movie didn't do as well as I expected, but I still loved it. I haven't seen Dredd, and Lego Batman was OK but unspectacular. So I went with Watchmen for my second choice. Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Tenshot13 on April 06, 2020, 07:34:01 am Watchmen kicks ass. Fight me. Dredd was a pretty awesome movie in it's own right, I agree. Shazam nudged it out IMO, but not by much. Dredd also kicks ass. Fight me again. I haven't seen Shazam...and I haven't seen ANY of the Lego movies. Fortunately, Watchmen is top-5 in my all-time fave comic book movies, and I really enjoyed Dredd as well. Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Dave Gray on April 06, 2020, 10:24:17 am Shazam is actually pretty good. It's kinda like Big with Tom Hanks. Funny too and the ending is clever. I think this was just a pretty good group. Lego Batman was fine.
Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Brian Fein on April 06, 2020, 12:39:30 pm I thought Shazam was awful.
I'll be that guy that votes for Lego Batman, cause that movie had me rolling on the floor Title: Re: TDMMC Comic Book Movie Madness: Non-Marvel Group 4 Post by: Phishfan on April 06, 2020, 08:38:52 pm I couldn't make it through Shazam. That movie ruined my memory.
