Yes, just as much, remotely from home. I find it easier to work from home. My company is suffering of course, it makes travel booking software.

My parents, they're old.

I've ordered parts and am fixing nagging things on my car. I got rid of att altogether, (wireless, cable, internet) got google FI for wireless, comcast for just internet and am streaming anything i'm watching .. (that saved me a ton of money) We have a couple of 1000 piece puzzles we're working on together as a family.

I am working my normal hours at the office, and still working a little bit on moonlighting jobs at night from home.

My mother...it's the person I always worry about, regardless of the issue causing the worry.

I've added some solar lights in the backyard, gotten my bathroom so sparkling clean that I could use my bathtub as a large bowl for chili (or cereal, should it be breakfast time).

This is not a famous person, but there was an Internet story from several years ago where this grandma accidentally texted a young black guy on Thanksgiving.  In a twist, he ended up going to Thanksgiving and have been having Thanksgiving with that family every year.  It was just a nice story.  I just saw today that her husband died from it.  For some reason, that was a sad one....just made it a little bit real, because I'd gotten happiness from their story in the past.


I'm working as much, but I'm able to do it easier.  A lot of my job requires being available but I don't have to grind every day.  (Only days when I have a project to do.)  Because of that, I am able to get my work done in what I perceive to be a shorter amount of time -- plus taking away the commute and getting kids to school and all that.  It's way easier for me.  Our business has clients that are struggling and now with so many jobs lost, the cashflow is hurting.  The silver-living (if you can call it that) is that our business will likely do very well once things start to recover.


My mother in law.  She (like me) gets respiratory issues when she's sick.  And she lives alone and cares for not just our kids but her other grandchild.  She's really out of her routine.  I worry that she'll be rushing to get back to normal and put herself at risk.


I have sold some things on Ebay (not sure that counts as Corona time but I probably wouldn't have done it otherwise.  My big thing is I'm hanging cabinets in my garage and re-organizing that space.  Plus, all my other projects (fish tanks, composter, etc) are taking up time here and there.  I'm also taking my other pop-culture stuff, like TV and video games and doing a little every day, where I used to skip here and there.

I am in an essential industry so I am working as much as always.  There has been some slowdown though.

In-laws

Not really. We've been riding our motorcycles or going out on the boat on the weekends and ride our bicycles during the evenings.

My life is hindered by not eating out with friends, doing group events on the water or Harleys and shopping almost anywhere. Small price to pay for staying healthy thru this IMO.   

Does anyone else think death numbers are ridiculously higher than they should be? I swear I heard nurses discussing this a couple of weeks ago and now it seems to be more prevalent. They said that they declare almost anything as a corona-virus death. Now people are trying to figure out why heart attacks and pneumonia deaths have completely dropped off. It's pretty obvious they are putting them into the rona category.

Yes, my daughter has tested positive. She works in the medical industry and had a fever of 103 last week and was tested positive. She really didn't get that sick, but she's quarantined now.

Working from home. Same hours. Work is pretty much the same although we are not as busy just because the airline industry has lost about 90% of our business.

My Wife. She has diabetes and smokes plus she's in her 50's like me.

I'm still working so I haven't changed anything really except eating out. We have only eaten out once since this started. I went through the drive through at a local Chick Filet and 2 days later it was shut down because someone tested positive there. Haven't eaten out again.

Not yet. I know 2 people that think they had it but one never got tested and one is waiting on the test result.

I have been working from home, but my company has been shut down this week.  Forced Vacation.  Will resume working next week, from home.

MY wife is on immunosuppressant drugs.  My mom turns 70 and a cancer survivor.  My grandmother is 96 and undergoing cancer treatment now.  Pretty much everyone around me is high risk.

I have been working on a few art projects.  I am trying to learn airbrush.  I have a few home improvement projects going and i cleaned half of my garage.  Overall, pretty productive.

1. No I don't but some of my friends have relatives who do.

2. One friend hasn't yet lost her relative yet, but it's only a matter of time.   Her aunt was in the final stages of Alzheimer's when she came down with it.  She is now in a coma and on a respirator.

3. The pastor who said that COVID-19 was a hoax to take down President Trump.  While I don't appreciate the leftists who blame Trump for every little thing to do with this whole mess (and anything else), COVID-19 was definitely not a hoax.  

4.  I've been furloughed from my job.   They are at least paying my health benefits.  My job is open on a limited basis and we are taking customers one at a time (I'm a hearing aid specialist at Audibel).     I've found a side gig to get me by and I'm doing very well with it.  I shop and deliver groceries for Shipt and Instacart.   Business is booming in that category.

5.  My mom and stepdad.  They are both in their 70's and my mom's health is starting to deteriorate.   My stepdad is diabetic.  

6.  I'm re-doing the landscaping in my front yard.   Tore up the grass about a foot from the front edges of my house and put in a rock bed.  Then I put solar outdoor lamps in the rocks, the kind that you just stick in the ground.  They give off a nice glow at night.   My next project is to paint both my guest bedrooms.  

I had heard similar things, but for different reasons.  There are fewer heart attacks because people aren't doing stuff that would trigger a heart attack -- they're chilling at home.  Same with other illnesses.  Pneumonia that you might catch from getting out and getting sick, you're less likely to catch.  Car injuries are almost down to nothing.

I get the accident things but I would think heart attacks would be higher now as I can't think of a time when so much of the country has been severely stressed out. In my experience it's bad health and stress which cause heart attacks and not so much the act they were doing. I've had several friends have them after going to sleep but I can't think of one that had it while running etc.

Florida Blue is accepting phone calls from everyone, regardless of coverage, just to try and calm peoples fears and help them deal with the stresses of today. 

There is no uniformity.  And numbers can go both ways.  If you test positive for covid-19 and have a heart attack, that might get recorded as Covid 19, even if the heart attack wasn’t actually caused by covid 19.  OTOH, in NYC it is believed the deaths from covid 19 are actually much higher than reported.  As in hundreds a day.  If someone dies at home even if they had 100% of the covid symptoms they aren’t recorded as covid 19 unless tested and nyc can’t spare tests to test deceased.

Here’s a vivid question. Are you ready for the world wide baby boom that’s going to happen over the next few months because of all of this staying at home orders?

Social scientists actually predict a dip.  This isn’t like a snowstorm or power outage you know will be over in a couple of days.  People are less likely to want to add to the family in times of economic uncertainty and when there is uncertainty about being able to safely secure prenatal & natal medical care.

But a spike in divorces could be coming. 

Yes, my father in law's best friend got it and died.  He was about to retire, was at the office for his final check and they threw him a retirement party.  They think he got it there.  This was right before people started social distancing.  He was in his mid 60s and lifetime drinker and smoker.

I'm still working, it's for a small business and I'm usually the only person on the office.  It's utilities so not much p2p.

I'm worried about my parents getting it.  My mom has a pacemaker and my dad has diabetes, so it wouldn't be good for them to get.

I read couples are actually having sex less because of all the anxiety. With that said ... supposedly there is more people sending nudes than ever before because they are in lock-down. hahaha

I had a guy say that on my job too. Most of us disagreed as we actually like our families.

liking your family doesn't mean you're oblivious to the 3 neighbors that constantly fight or the couple down the street that had the cops come over a few months ago for a domestic dispute

Fortunately I haven't seen that either. I did see a guy wearing this and walking around and waiving to the neighbors though. They all seemed to be pretty happy.

Nobody is suggesting EVERYONE is going to get divorced.  But this very well could be the tipping point for marriages that are already a little rocky.

I can't think of anyone at the moment, which means there isn't one, I suppose.

I'm working the same schedule.  My dept. is already short staffed (4 out of 8 positions are empty), and we've received approval from upper management for half of us to work from home on a rotation.  However, since some of my coworkers have child daycare issues (due to closed schools) or elderly parents at home, I've volunteered to keep coming in to work every day so someone else can stay home.

My aunt & uncle.  My uncle is retired, but my aunt works at a local hospital.  They're both in their 60s.

Outside of eliminating visits with friends and family, my time off is exactly the same: browse the internet, play video games.  As some of my friends and I have joked, we have been preparing for this for our whole lives.  ;D

About 2 weeks after the lockdown started in the Bay Area, one of my best friends told me he is getting a divorce.  And yeah, they were already seeing a marriage counselor.

I worry about kids with abusive parents, especially since those kids have basically no outlet to tell a trusted adult when permanently confined at home.

We have had our first brush with a death.  My nephew is a grad student at FAU and he's doing a dissertation-type thing for mathematics, which includes writing papers on/with various other mathematicians who had done proofs or whatever.  He was to meet with this one guy for that process, where he was writing a paper on a book the guy authored.  The guy just died.

Yes. A friend & his wife were infected from a group who returned from Aspen last month. Luckily they are ok - as a side note he attended a meeting I went to before he was informed his friends were positive & let us all know when he was tested. I was the furthest away from him (around ten feet) from the table, had no contact & showed no symptoms. Around 10 people that night since then have all tested negative, including the people sitting either side of him and the guy next to me. Close call...

I am still working on and off. I took some unused sick & annual leave, we are in the process of gearing as much as we can to work remotely. The Government measures that are being brought in to subsidize my wage should basically mean I should be employed at least the next six months, after that who knows... I know a hell of a lot here in hospitality who have been laid off and are on the scrapheap, as were a lot on casual wages. There's a lot of fear and uncertainty for good reason.


My eldest brother & his wife in remote Brazil. It may be a low cost of living there, but the health services are a worry at the best of times...


Lots to do here, repairs & cleaning. Free time to finally learn French & Italian languages are a bonus.
