Paper reports that Miami has received an offer for him and are looking into it. The team denies this. I am torn on this because he makes a lot of money and has a bad injury history, but when he is on the field he is truly elite. Him and Byron have basically shut down other team's passing attacks when they play together.

On the 3rd hand, we just drafted a CB in the first round and as of now, have another high first round pick from the Texans. Trading Howard, even with the large contract, would probably net us multiple first rounders and free up cap space. I am leaning towards wanting to do this if it is another Tunsil haul but I won't be upset if he stays. To me, 2020 is not the year we compete but I 100% believe that as long as Tua does well this year, we are Superbowl contenders in 2021. We just have so many draft picks and the division is totally up for grabs.

I can think of one player on the team I wouldn't let go for *multiple* first rounders.

Agreed that almost no one is untouchable, especially if it comes with huge cap relief too. The issue is which team? The Packers for instance would have a very late 1st rounder so it's more like a high 2nd. Still good but I would rather a .500 club do the trade building for the future.

Nobody is going to give multiple first rounders for Xavien. If someone offers a single first rounder, and maybe a 7th for 5th swap in the second slot...I'd take the deal.

Dave Hyde was talking about this yesterday. He was saying they aren't looing to trade but are listening to offers. He also said this team is not built for today but more for two years from now. With that said you have to wonder what Howard is going to be in 2 years or if another high draft pick would actually help you out more in the long run.

Personally ... I don't see trading him unless they get a crazy offer (think Tunsil trade) but I did think Hyde brought up some good points.

Howard is very good.  But nobody is giving the Dolphins "multiple first round picks" for him.  This time of year I would listen to any trade offer for anyone.  But that doesn't mean I'm seeking to trade anyone.  I'm not interested in selling my house.  But it would be foolish of me not to listen if someone wanted to make me an offer on it.  Same principle. 

I wouldn't think they would either, especially with his salary, but it's kind of dumb to ask Miami to trade one of their young franchise players unless the offer was ridiculous. I don't think Miami even gives it any thought unless it's a 1st and 2nd.

 and I were told this morning that a couple teams have inquired about Xavien. We spoke to the team and chose not to report until a fuller picture and details emerged about the likelihood of him actually being traded.

Personally, I think they found out who their leak was with the Tua news by pulling a fast one on the Sun Sentinel.

If other reporters heard the same rumors, then Omar isn't wrong for reporting that the team has received offers. Seems odd for the team to attack him like this but I don't live in the area so maybe there is some bad blood between both parties that I am unaware of.

I hate to say it, but I'm all for a team listening for offers for a player if it helps them long term. Especially if injuries come into play with that aforementioned player

Listen to every offer. If the Jets offered us their next 10 first rounders for Tua, you take the deal. I'll trade anyone if the other team is dumb enough to make a ridiculous offer. We didn't want to trade Tunsil until O'Brien sunk the Texans to make it happen. Sometimes, you just can't say no.

This was a way for the dolphins to identify where the Tua leak came from

For what it is worth, I use an app called The Score and just read about 50 trade rumors. This wasn't one.

Some team probably inquired and Miami said he was off limits unless they were prepared to mortgage their future like the Texans and that was that. I'm sure these phone calls happen all the time.
