Title: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 03, 2021, 07:31:49 pm A Texans win would've crushed us even worse than we already were but the Titans pulled it out at the last second to ensure that we et the #3 pick.
Our first 4 picks are now: 3rd 18th 36th 50th The closer we get to the draft, the better we will all feel. Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: dolphins4life on January 03, 2021, 07:33:11 pm I'd rather be the Texans, who at least made the playoffs last year

Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: CF DolFan on January 03, 2021, 07:36:01 pm Fricken Tannehill was spectacular when it mattered most. That was seriously clutch. He hooked us up by helping himself.

Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: dolphins4life on January 03, 2021, 07:38:05 pm I want to know, is our team the team with the worst luck ever?

Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: Tenshot13 on January 03, 2021, 07:44:32 pm The draft is going to be exciting.
Sewell will probably be available, he's a generational LT. Also, cincinnati REALLY wants him so we could trade back to #5 for a good ransom. If the Jets for whatever reason take Sewell or trade with cincinnati ahead of us, Miami could take Parson who is one of those "he's everywhere" kind of LBs. Or take a risk on Chase or Smith at WR. None of these options are bad. Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: DenverFinFan on January 03, 2021, 08:12:38 pm Ideally I would have us get Sewell and best WR available with our pick, followed by best RB available or another WR.

I think the biggest question will be: Is Sewell much better than the OT we can get at 18 or is Chase much better than the WR that we can get at 18? Lots of time until April but I think we can all are our biggest needs are WR and O-Line. Certainly can use a linebacker but with no running game until the last few weeks and no healthy or trustworthy WRs, the choices for first round are obvious. There is not enough bandwidth on the internet to fill that hole. Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 06, 2021, 12:52:48 pm Any mock drfat that has us taking a QB or RB in the 1st round must be thrown in the trash. Ignore those idiots.
Thank you for your time. Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: Seafort on January 07, 2021, 12:25:46 pm If we can swing a trade with Cincinnati to move back, I'd like to see this:
1st Round: Kyle Pitts - TE 1st Round: Jaylen Waddle - WR 2nd Round: Chris Olave - WR 2nd Round: Travis Ettiene - HB Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: Tenshot13 on January 07, 2021, 01:42:17 pm A TE at 5 would be a huge mistake imo. I wouldn't argue too much with the rest though

I wouldn't argue too much with the rest though He will go in the high teens or 20s, definitely not a #3 pick. The issue we have is that we can either get the best OT in the draft or the best WR but not both. So, if we draft Sewell then we are looking at the 4th or 5th best WR at 18 depending how things fall. If we draft Chase at 3 then the OT we would get at 18 is also nowhere near Sewell. I honestly don't know where I stand but it's over 3 months out so there is time to debate it until we are sick. Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: Seafort on January 07, 2021, 10:41:23 pm If we get Sewell, we're essentially done spending any high draft choices on offensive linemen (finally) for the next four or five years.
We've so overdrafted (without success) on the O-Line it's ridiculous: Offensive Line (1st - 3rd Round) since 2000 2000: Todd Wade (2nd) 2001: Morlon Greenwood (3rd) 2002: Seth McKinney (2nd) 2003: Wade Smith (3rd), Taylor Whitley (3rd) 2004: Vernon Carey (1st) 2007: Samson Satele (2nd) 2008: Jake Long (1st) 2010: John Jerry (3rd) 2011: Mike Pouncey (1st) 2012: Jonathan Martin (2nd) 2013: Dallas Thomas (3rd) 2014: Ja'Wuan James (1st) 2016: Laremy Tunsil (1st) 2019: Michael Deiter (3rd) 2020: Austin Jackson (1st), Robert Hunt (2nd) Meanwhile at wide receiver since 2000... 2001: Chris Chambers (2nd) 2006: Derek Hagan (3rd) 2007: Ted Ginn Jr (1st) 2009: Patrick Turner (3rd) 2014: Jarvis Landry (2nd) 2015: Devante Parker (1st) Overall, we've only drafted one wide receiver (Isaiah Ford, 7th round 2017) in the last four drafts Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: Downunder Dolphan on January 10, 2021, 12:07:02 am The issue we have is that we can either get the best OT in the draft or the best WR but not both. I honestly don't know where I stand but it's over 3 months out so there is time to debate it until we are sick. The edges of the OL this season with the three rookies were very sound, so is Sewell a huge enough upgrade to be worth the pick? I like the idea of trading down a bit from pick three for a fair ransom to someone desperate for Sewell (or one of the QBs) and then target our most pressing needs at the top end - WR and LB. Devonte Smith, Ja'Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle and Micah Parsons are all juicy prospects that should be considerations for our first pick depending on if/where we trade down. Which would be the best receiver to fit the team? Is Parsons the kind of LB solution that can cover the mobile TE/RB through the middle which seems to always be our defensive Achilles heel? I also love the romance of picking up Patrick Surtain II to follow in his old man's footsteps in Miami, but we already loaded at CB - then again, after what happened last year, who knows? We should also target a quality upgrade at the RB spot and may be worth a shot from the end of the second round, preferably a guy with a history of not fumbling the ball no matter how many times he gets hit. I would have loved us to have picked up Cam Akers last year, but considering who we ended up drafting I am not complaining. Four picks in the top 50 to add more talent this year has me excited, and if we trade down and add to that bounty, even more so. Title: Re: We Officially Have the 3rd and 18th Picks in the Draft Post by: EDGECRUSHER on January 10, 2021, 01:01:43 pm Sewell moved to RT to protect Tua is a massive upgrade over Jesse Hunt. I think the line did reasonably well this season, not so much in opening up holes but decent protection. With a bunch of rookies on the line, hard to ask for much better. Still, Sewell is a once a decade OT so I wouldn't be sad if we stayed at 3 and took him. I am open to all offers and their should be plenty, but I don't want to move back to 10th for just an extra 2nd rounder. The offer has to be really good.
