Title: Chase vs. Pitts
Post by: Spider-Dan on March 29, 2021, 03:45:34 pm
Suppose the first 4 picks are QBs and CIN takes Sewell, leaving all skill position players available for the taking.  It seems like the majority of posters have Chase as their #1 WR option.  So what do you think of taking a top-flight WR vs. a top-flight TE?

Best case scenario, I frame this choice as Julio Jones vs. Travis Kelce; in that scenario, I'd rather have Jones.  I think QB-WR is a better combo for long-term success than QB-TE.  Historically, a great TE (e.g. Gronk, Kelce) only wins when they have the best QB in the league throwing to them, while there are countless other great TEs (e.g. Winslow, Gonzalez, Gates) who never even played in a Super Bowl.

I think Gesicki is a capable TE who still has room to grow, and Fuller is too brittle to be a long-term option.  Parker has value, but he's just not a #1.  If the best receiver on your team is a TE, your QB needs to outplay the opponent's QB every game.  I don't like that win condition.

All excellent points. Fuller is on a one year and next year the same free agent WR class will be available again. Why pay top dollar when you can draft one for relatively cheap the next 5 years? That being said, is Pitts really a Tight End or just a WR who plays Tight End? I see lots of conflicting stuff on him.

Might not matter though because the Falcons redid Ryan's contract and he is basically unable to be moved the next 2 years because of hit unless they want like a $50 Million dead money hit. So, I don't think they draft a QB now. They either take one of the skillset players or trade the pick to a QB needy team. If they use it on Sewell, then the Bengals probably take Chase. Any other OT would be a reach.

I won't be sad if we draft either of those guys though.

I think you can find another WR that is comparable but maybe not quite as good as the big 3 WRs later in the draft, however, you won't find anyone nearly as comparable to Pitts later in the draft.  Plus I'm a Pitts Stan.

I like TEs.  And as for the claim an elite TE won’t win the SB without a top notch QB, name some superbowl winning WRs that didn’t have a solid QB.

If it was my call...and both were available, I really think I would go with Pitts at this point. I think you can get a great WR in a lot of different places. TEs, on the other hand...good luck getting an elite one of those.

For what it's worth (not much, really), my 20-team Dynasty league squad Blunt Force Trauma has it's first top-10 draft pick in 6 years (#7 overall) and it is a QB-driven league. I just lost two of my 3 QBs (Brees, Rivers), and my TE (Olsen) to retirement. Even if one of the top-4 QBs makes it to me, Pitts will still be the top player on my draft board.

You can't just look at a comparison of the 2 players you have to consider the offense that is going to be run. In my opinion with Tua his strength is the RPO. To make that workable the run has to be viable. If it's not then Tua doesn't scare teams and a great WR really isn't going to change that. In my opinion for that situation Pitts works better for the Dolphins. I know he's not a strong blocker but he's a capable blocker and Gesicki is getting better. He's also not a strong blocker but still with both of them on the field they can block better then any WR's the Dolphins will employ in my opinion. A 2 TE package makes the run the best threat we have while at the same time still allowing 5 potential pass catchers on the field. That leaves the defense in a very tough predicament. Try to cover all those pass catcher with 4 DB's or go to a 5 or 6 DB package. With 5 or 6 DB's you should be able to run the ball on that defense even with Gesicki and Pitts blocking. If they stick with their normal 4 DB's, good luck trying to cover everyone. Someone is going to be overmatched and the QB just has to find the mismatch and deliver an accurate pass which is perfect for Tua.

Now all of this is pure hypothetical, but in my opinion that's what you are trying to do, create mismatches and take advantage of the mismatch. I don't really think a DB on a WR is a mismatch no matter who the WR is especially given if it's the best DB the team has and at the same time a 2 TE set gives your run game a better chance to succeed. Not much, but a better chance and it forces the defense to match your set or get caught in the wrong defensive set for your offensive personnel. I think that has a better chance at succeeding looking at Miami's roster.

For what it's worth I still think Preston Williams could end up being the best WR that Miami has if he can stay healthy. I've been impressed with him when he plays.

Tony Romo was a "solid" QB.  Philip Rivers was a "solid" QB.  Neither one of them have been Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes, which is why Jason Witten and Antonio Gates have never even played in a Super Bowl.

And while it's true that the SB winner is almost always a top 3 QB in the league, you don't nearly need that to at least play in a SB.  If you look at NFL.com's top 35 WRs of all-time (https://www.nfl.com/photos/gil-brandt-s-greatest-nfl-receivers-of-all-time-0ap3000000816078), of the receivers that started their careers post-merger, only 4 never played in a SB (Largent, C.Carter, A.Johnson, Megatron).

I just don't think an elite TE makes that much of a difference.  If you have an All-Pro QB, you won't need an elite TE, and if you don't have an All-Pro QB, an elite TE is not going to make the difference an elite WR can.

I am all for picking the best receiver be it WR or TE with our first, but my gut feeling is just maybe Michah Parsons could be in play too.

#6 is not seen as a big a reach as #3, plus we got an extra future first round pick to move down just three spots.

Either way, I see the deal for us as a big win - we get an additional future first, while we will still probably get one of the top prospects at all of receiver, linebacker and running back with our first three picks.

Two spots where I disagree with you:

1) when you split them both into separate groups. Just count all of them as "pass catchers." When I do that, I have Pitts above Chase.

2) When you start referring to the likelihood of making a Super Bowl for either an elite TE or elite WR. If you want to win a Super Bowl, you build the best team possible. Whether that "best team possible" includes an elite WR or an elite TE...either one will work, if the team as a whole is good enough.

Kyle Pitts is a mismatch nightmare every time he steps on the field, and as a red-zone target, he is in a class of his own.

Yeah, I've warmed to Pitts very quickly (especially after we got Fuller) if he ends up being our first pick. An elite receiver and a constant end zone threat sounds exactly like what Tua needs.

Between Pitts and Chase, who has more catches or yards in a full season for Miami? Whoever it is, pick that guy. I am leaning toward Pitts because we can get another WR in the later rounds or even next year's free agency class. When can we get a TE like this again? Pair him with Gesicki who I like and it could be real trouble for opposing defenses.

There's an easy answer...whoever the QB throws it to more.

Since WR and TE are two very different positions, I don't know that there is a 100% accurate way to compare players from the two positions.  So this is just my opinion and not something I'm trying to call an indisputable fact.  But for me, the WR position in general has a greater capacity to impact a game than the TE position.  Most people would agree that there are two "game changer" Tight Ends currently in the NFL.  George Kittle and Travis Kelce.  But we could easily name at least a dozen "game changer" Wide Receivers.  My opinion is that the discrepancy lies in the fact that an offense can do a lot more with a WR than a TE.  Move them around to exploit weaknesses, etc.  Whereas the TE position has a lot less capacity for creativity and exploiting defensive weaknesses.  So even if we say that Chase and Pitts are of equal talent at their respective positions, I would rather see the Dolphins take Chase because I think he is going to be a bigger asset to the Dolphins offense than Pitts will simply because his being a WR will give more opportunity for impact plays than a TE will.

Rare that we disagree on anything, but the way that Pitts was used by the Gators was the epitome  of versatility. A snippet about Pitts from a beat writer for the Giants, who are hoping to land Pitts... You can read similar comments from virtually everyone who has scouted Pitts.

"Versatility was on display at Florida, too; he was frequently split out wide, was the backside receiver on a lot of 3x1 sets, and his route tree was extensive in Dan Mullen’s offense.  He was also used inline, in the slot, as an H-Back, and was frequently utilized in motion to help Florida’s offense gain an edge on the defense."

You could very well be right.  I honestly didn't follow Pitts as closely as I did the WRs in college last  year.  So I will defer to you on this one.  I still think I'd rather go Chase than Pitts because I think the WR position can impact the game more.  But I wouldn't shed any tears if they went with Pitts.  PS, I may be slightly biased against Pitts since he is a Gator and I'm a Hurricanes fan.  LOL

Yeah, #6 is offense 100%. There really isn't a debate on that. The #18 pick is up for grabs though between OL and DE or even moving up higher. I doubt we move down though, every pick we currently have should be focused on making the 2021 team better, not the future unless we get a Bill O'Brien offer.

The way I would compare "pass catchers" is comparing someone like PIT Antonio Brown to someone like MIA Jarvis Landry.

Now, Jarvis Landry was a mismatch nightmare.  He caught a LOT of passes, and made the Pro Bowl multiple times.  He was arguably the best slot receiver in the league.  But a slot receiver isn't going to get you to the Super Bowl, because a slot receiver just isn't going to move the ball down the field fast enough to break the game open.  When the best receiver on your team plays in the slot, you have a problem.

Wes Welker was also a really good slot receiver; in his prime, one of the best I've seen.  But I wouldn't want to build a team around him.  And I'm concerned about doing the same with Pitts.  Replace Tyreek Hill with an average WR and - even with the best QB and (arguably) the best TE - the Chiefs aren't nearly as scary.  Replace Kelce with an average TE and I don't think the same is true.  (And I don't think Hill is as good as his job as Kelce is at his.)

I completely disagree about Hill and Kelce. Give me Kelce over Hill anyday and twice on Sunday. The reason that Hill is able to hit those homeruns is because Kelce keeps the chains moving. You can't take shots down the field on every pass, you have to mix in the plays that get you first downs. That's what Kelce does and he does it better then anyone. Replace him and Hill is getting about 1 chance a game to catch a deep ball and he's going to be better covered on that play because they aren't worried about Kelce catching a 10 yard pass. I think KC would win about the same number of games with or without Hill. He's flashy, but they don't NEED him to win. They win because they can do it all, not just because of Hill.

Seems Brady and Welker did alright as a team. Gronk and Brady won more Superbowls then Brady and Randy Moss. I think you're over simplifying it. No one is saying it's clear cut that TE is the pick, it's a good question but the correct answer isn't black and white.

Randy Moss is considered by many the 2nd greatest WR of all time.  In his best season of his career him and Tom Brady failed to win the SB. Gronk + Brady = multiple SB wins.

It's not just Pitts, it's having Pitts and Gesicki to throw to, plus a speedster in Fuller and Parker who when isn't the sole focus on the defense is pretty good.  That's not mentioning if Williams is healthy, how he is a pretty damn good WR.  That's not mentioning possible trading up from #18, I've seen Waddle and Smith drop to the 11-12 range in a lot of mocks.  That's not mentioning other WRs who are pretty talented in their own right not being brought up at all because of Chase/Smith/Waddle that could be taken later.  To me, it's a no brainer drafting Pitts.

Now watch them draft Parsons because Flores is a defense minded coach lol.

They can certainly use a stud WR too since that team has a lot of holes, but their franchise QB ran for his life until he suffered a major leg injury. They are definitely going O-Line with the #5 pick unless Sewell is arrested for murder that morning. They would only go Chase if the Falcons drafted Sewell first because they didn't like the 4th option at QB and that isn't too unlikely because Ryan will be a Falcon for the next 2 years due to cap hits.

I doubt it.  With Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, they are stacked at WR.  Also, they have so many holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball.  Not to mention, with Matt Ryan getting long in the tooth, they could very well bring his future replacement in (that's the rumor anyway).

I think the first four selections are QB, and Cincy gobbles up Sewell to protect Burrow from ending his sophomore season on IR like he did his rookie season.  That leaves us with the pick of the litter of top notch pass catchers.

Unfortunate for them that the year they get to pick 4th is the year that the 3 teams ahead of them are all going QB. Never before has a QB gone in the first 4 picks, but history is working against them now. They could draft Ryan's replacement and sit him 2 years but that's only if they are cool with drafting the 4th best QB which will be Fields or Lance. If they go defense, the pick might be a reach and they could trade down a bit to Carolina or Denver.

Either way, unless something obscene happens and Chase/Pitts are off the board before we pick, we are good. Even then, hello Sewell.

Love that speed, but I have to ask... Which would you consider more impressive, a 6'0" 206 lb WR running a 4.37 or a 6'5" 240 lb TE running a 4.42?

Again...just throwing thoughts out there. I'm 100% peachy with either.

I agree that either would be a perfect addition.  But I'm watching Chase's Pro Day right now too along with some tape on him.  Whew, guy is the total package.  Rare to see someone with that speed who is also really physical at slapping away press coverage and going up for 50/50 balls with super strong hands.  I try not to get overly excited about Pro Days and combine performances because they are under such controlled environments.  But he does have that "wow" factor.  But you are right, Pitts has it too.

For Miami's offense, I'd rather have the TE. If Marino is the QB, I'd rather have the WR.

I can understand that seeing that Chase helped Burrow win the Heisman.   But their O-Line is going to get Burrow killed as it is.

Cincy doesn't want to upset Burrow, but they don't want him to be a cripple either. No good to them then. I still say they take Sewell but if they don't and neither does Atlanta then it's a big shakeup. At that point, I take Sewell and try to package the 18th pick with a 2nd rounder to see if we can get Smith or Waddle then, even though I am not in love with Waddle.

You're building a team based on their upside. You have one pick, do you give your young QB a Marvin Harrison or an Orlando Pace?

But I'm watching Chase's Pro Day right now too along with some tape on him.  Whew, guy is the total package.

I record them during the day and watch when I get home...so thanks for spoiling that .40 time for me!  ;)

If it is Sewell at 6, what do we do at WR? Take one at 18? Trade up for one? Stick with what we got and address it next year in the draft and with the big WR free agent class?

1) This is a very deep WR class, by virtually anyone's account.
2) Miami has more picks than just the #6 overall.

Plenty of chances to get an excellent WR in this class. Will they be as good as Chase? Nope. But then again, any tackle you draft later isn't going to be anywhere near the quality of a Pennei Sewell.

Chase, Pitts, Sewell...it's a win-win-win at #6

Just keep in mind that Tunsil was rated just as highly as Sewell coming out of college, if not higher.  Did you feel comfortable and satisfied with the Dolphins OL 2 years ago?

Title: Re: Chase vs. Pitts

On the flip side, the chances of ATL picking as high as 4th before Matt Ryan retires are... not very good.  So Fields or Lance are going to be a better pick than any other QB the Falcons can draft in the next 3 years (unless they give up a bunch of assets to move up).

4 1st, 2 2nd, 1 3rd so far .. who knows how the future trades pan out.
Tunsil was the best selection the dolphins have made since dan marino

I'm not bringing Tunsil up to criticize the trade to HOU.  SF ended all doubt of that, even for me.

I'm bringing him up because there are some who believe Sewell is a franchise-altering player... but many of you didn't seem to feel that way after a couple of years of Tunsil, who was as least as good of a prospect as Sewell.  And it's not like Tunsil was a bust.

You may as well say Devante Parker was as highly rated as Ja'Marr Chase.

Yeah, Tunsil was projected to make the Pro Bowl in his career. Sewell is projected to make the Pro Bowl every year.

If projecting college careers into the NFL was a science, there would be no "busts".    Even the NFL team experts get it wrong all the time.  For the rest of us, it just pure speculation at the least to a fairly educated guess at the best.  Outside of the few draftees who are either superstars from day one or complete flameouts from day one, it takes at least a couple years to determine how good a rookie is the vast majority of the time.  That is part of why I'm not a fan of so many people ragging on the OL guys we drafted last year.  Offensive linemen are hardly ever dominant in their rookie year.  By the end of this season we will start to have a decent idea of how good or bad the OL guys that the Fins drafted last year actually are.  Everybody is kind of down on Robert Hunt from last year.  Dude has the skills but he played at a small school (Louisiana Lafayette) and had never been up against even big school defenses, much less NFL defenses.  He may or may not develop into a stud, but you can't give up on a rookie after just one year when he has skills who came from a small school.

Hunt was actually a pretty good RT the last 6 weeks of the season. If we added no one to the line, I feel they would still be better due to maturing and playing together. That being said, Sewell at RT is an absolute monster and would ensure that we have LT and RT locked up for at least the next 4 seasons at a below market value. Considering what Tackles go for these days, you have to factor that into your draft decisions.

I agree.  I didn't mean to infer that I didn't want them to take Sewell.  I'd still prefer that they a more glaring positional need with their first pick though.  I'd love to see them take a developmental OT in the mid rounds though because I think this draft is deep at OT and there are some guys that aren't real high on the radar who I think have a lot of potential.  For example, Dan Moore from Texas A&M, Radunz from N Dakota St., Hudson from Cincinnatti, Ealy from Oklahoma, or Forsythe from Florida.

At the end of the day, I think Atlanta and Cincy is going to make our draft pick for us. I think the Falcons take Pitts and the Bengals take Sewell, leaving us with Chase who we may have drafted at #3 anyway. If Atlanta goes QB or trades it to a team who does, then it becomes Chase vs. Pitts.

So, since we are all fairly convinced that it will be a Sewell-Pitts-Chase situation, the more I worry that when the commish steps to the microphone, he says something like...

"With the 6th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select Alijah Vera-Tucker, offensive tackle, USC..."

No, he really wasn't a better prospect...he wasn't even as good a prospect.
Tunsil was rated a 94 (http://insider.espn.com/nfl/draft/rankings/_/year/2016) by ESPN.  Sewell is rated a... 94 (http://insider.espn.com/nfl/draft/rankings/_/year/2021) by ESPN.  Furthermore, while Sewell's scouting reports say he still needs to work on his strength at the next level, Tunsil was considered a complete player.

But maybe I'm wrong.  What professional sources say Sewell is a better prospect than Tunsil was?

The bottom line is that neither Tunsil nor Sewell are considered the absolute brick wall of a prospect that, say, Jake Long (rated 98) was.  So if you weren't wowed by Tunsil when he was a Dolphin, you shouldn't expect much more from Sewell.

Quote
You may as well say Devante Parker was as highly rated as Ja'Marr Chase.
For the record, Parker was rated a 92, while Chase is rated a 94.

I haven't seen enough plays of any of the top receivers; but I'll say this: Miami needs to draft the player that is best at going up and fighting for the ball.  With a young Tua he is going to be chucking it up there, so Miami needs a guy that will go after the ball.

^^^ After trading back up to #6 I don't think there is any way Miami trades back down; they already gave up a future #1 to get back up - they would have to receive 2 or 3 future #1's.  The only way there isn't a player that Miami wants is if only one QB is taken in the five picks ahead of us.

That would be a nightmare scenario for MIA.  The best player of need would probably be Waddle at that point (who seems like a pretty big reach at #6), and it's hard to see any other team giving up anything of value to move up and pick a QB with Wilson, Fields, Lance, and Jones all still on the board.

And while this is certainly not a likely outcome, it's not outside the range of possibility.  JAX is definitely taking Lawrence, but the Jets are dumb enough to read their own press clippings and decide that Darnold has never had a target and still has big upside.  SF and ATL could reasonably think adding an elite weapon to their Super Bowl-quality QB, combined with a healthy season all-around, could push them over the top.  And obviously CIN has no need for a QB.

I was just thinking that let's say the Falcons also go QB and the Bengals surprise everyone and get Chase to reunite with Burrow, where do we put the guys we drafted last year if we go with Sewell? Obviously, he would start but Solomon did good at Guard last year, Hunt was good at RT the last part of the season and Jackson was a project and he still wasn't terrible. Would we demote Flowers to the bench? I can't imagine sitting Hunt after just one year and it was a solid performance for a rookie. Seems like we kick him back inside to his natural position and tell Flowers to piss off.

None of this probably happens though because I can't see Cincy letting him go by but you never know.

I would be very upset at the team if we traded down form 6 again for anything less than a historic draft haul or if by some terrible luck Chase/Pitts/Sewell are all off the board. This pick is a "gift" from the Texans, let us mess around with the 18th pick if they want. We are good at 6.

San Francisco did not trade 3 first rounders for an elite weapon...they did it for a QB.

That's not a crazy scenario. Now that the Panthers are also out of the running, really only leaves 2 or 3 possible suitors who would do that so the price wouldn't be insane. The Falcons themselves are split between the GM and HC whether to take a QB or add talent to help out right now. If the Broncos don't want Mac Jones, they can move up with them.

I can see Atlanta trading with a team for a QB, but Jones sacrificing valuable draft picks for a tight end when his team has lots of holes is......well, that's what Jerry Jones would do. It would make their offense very scary but scary enough to be a contender? I don't know.

In that order and would be happy with any of them as they all are playmakers.

That's why he's at the bottom of my list, but I'd still be happy with him even if he's a reach.

I'd prefer to get Pitts/Chase/Sewell/Smith/Waddle at #6 and get Kwity Paye at #18 (he's been off the charts at his pro day, he's a beast but kind of raw).  Then get one of the two top Centers with our first 2nd round pick and maybe get Javonte Williams with our second 2nd round pick, as Najee Harris and Travis Etienne will probably be gone.

That's probably the Dolphins draft plan right now, close to their best case scenario. However, I would prefer to stay away from any "raw" talent. We aren't rebuilding anymore, we are building a contender for 2021. We should only go for immediate contributors.

They DID pick up a king's ransom.  And by being quick to trade back up to 6, MIA is in a great position to get either the best WR, the best TE, or the best LT in the draft.

Imagine if MIA was still sitting at 3 and SF had traded with PHI instead, figuring that one of Fields/Jones/Lance is guaranteed to still be on the board.

I'm more excited about the 1st round pick swap next season than the 1st rounder in 2023. I expect the Niners to be really good by then but we may get lucky next year and get a Top 13 pick out of it due to the division being so tough.

Oh yeah, with how much the landscape of drafts shift from month to month, we might as well be talking about the 2049 NFL draft. A rookie QB can come on this year and win the Heisman and now it's a strong draft for QBs. No one knows, I am just assuming the Niners pick in that year will be in the 20s so I'm not banking on another Texans situation.

Very well could be if Trey Lance/Fields pans out. That's why I care more about the 2022 pick swap as I feel Miami will be in the 20's and the Niners could be a Top 12 pick. I'm happy about the extra first rounder but I don't think it will alter the franchise like the Texans pick will this year.

I see Micah Parsons moving up draft boards. Any chance if Chase and Pitts are both off the board at #6 Miami calls his name instead of Sewell and if so would you be upset? I kinda feel like Parsons could be a game changer the same way that Sewell would be.

If Pitts and Chase are both gone, we actually have more options. We can go Sewell. Go Parsons. Trade down a few spots and get Parsons/Sewell/Darrisaw/Smith/Waddle. It is almost impossible to not get a good player from where we are, we just may not get the one we want the most.

The talent is immense but the size scares me. If we don't get Pitts, and it's unlikely at this point that we do, I would want Chase.

I wouldn't worry about his size.   He's a speedster and a home run threat if utilized properly.

My gut feel is we have someone locked in at #6 from a narrow group, and I reckon it will be a receiver as it's the most likely option. No matter what happens, one of Pitts, Chase, Smith or Waddle will definitely be there. We know that, they know that, everyone knows that. There's got to be a reason we spent one of the two first rounders from SF to move back up again, and it makes no sense to trade down a few spots once that was done...

Major priorities are receiver, LB and RB.

We have many "workhouse receivers" but lack the real explosive one who can take it to the house on any play. The guy that scares defensive coordinators... I reckon there's at least three of those options of which at least one will be available to us at #6, and most likely it's between Chase and Smith. I'm less concerned about Smith's size that others, and we already have Parker and Williams for height: Tyreek Hill is a small guy, yet he's the biggest threat in Mahomes targets bar none - sure, Kelsey can hurt you over and over again, but Hill can kill you in one play.

Would it shock me if we picked Micah Parsons at #6 and maybe doubled down on defense to take Kitty Paye at #18? Actually it wouldn't - this draft is deep in WR and adding Fuller could be a stop gap and we pick up one (or two) late. Arguably LB is our biggest need gong in, and even more so with Van Noy gone - Parsons stock is reportedly rising and he won't be there at #18, so do we pull the trigger early? (or trade up from #18)

As for Sewell, he could very well be there at #6 too, although I think Cincy would be nuts to pass on him after Burrow got mauled last year - yeah they added Reiff to the line, but Burrow is too important to risk it. If he is there though, is he the missing piece and last high cost addition to the OL that will open running lanes as well as they protect the QB, or a luxury pick? Or is it a case of just being the best available player...

...which is pretty much what we could be looking at no matter what, the best available talent. It's a nice position to be in with the run on QBs at the top, no matter who we choose they could be the top rated linebacker, top rated offensive lineman, top rated tight end or one of the three top rated wide outs with out first pick. Our next two picks are also in a position where there should be great value available including possibly one of the best running backs.

What will we do? I haven't the foggiest clue. I suspect not many really do... but it's not that long to go before we finally find out.

Their line was bad but not as bad as ours and not nearly as bad as was made out to be. They can definitely use a guy like Sewell but Burrow has been lobbying management to draft Chase so it really is a coin flip now on what they will do. 3 months ago, 95% Sewell but now it is pure 50/50.

I swear, some of you would complain if we won the superbowl.

Well we should have won by 18 points, not 15. Bad play calling, should have kicked that field goal.  ::)

That would be a nightmare scenario for MIA.  The best player of need would probably be Waddle at that point (who seems like a pretty big reach at #6), and it's hard to see any other team giving up anything of value to move up and pick a QB with Wilson, Fields, Lance, and Jones all still on the board.
Three QBs taken 1-2-3 and MIA still manages to end up with my nightmare scenario pick.
Ugh.

The Cincy front office sucks ass and this is why they are picking so high every year.  That line is going to get Burrow killed.

The line wasn't as terrible as it was made out to be but it was bad and the right pick was Sewell, just as the right pick for Atlanta was to trade down for more picks since they need lots of help on both sides of the ball. They were not a Tight End away from contending.

Burrow now has a serious leg injury and even when 100% healed, it will always be on his mind. One more injury and he could have a short career. At least when we drafted Tua last year, we also drafted 3 O-Linemen and signed 2 more in free agency. That's how you try to protect your investment.

I didn't think that both Pitts and Chase would be gone by the time the Dolphins picked at #6.  I was clearly wrong.  lol

I put it at a 50/50 chance they would be. I knew the Falcons would take Pitts if no one traded up with them but I only feared the Bengals would not protect their QB and take Chase. Both teams made mistakes, IMO, and it cost us.

Now, we should take the best O-Line available with our first pick just to stick it to the Bengals. Maybe Teven Jenkins at RT. May need to move up a few spots though to beat the Jets to the punch.
